Part 1General

1.01Summary

  1. This section includes specifications for the CircularBike Rack:

1.02Submittals

1.03Quality Assurance

  1. Manufacturer Qualifications:
  2. Minimum 15 years of bicycle rack manufacturing experience.
  3. Have manufactured and delivered this style of rack.

1.04Delivery, Storage and Handling

  1. Inspect shipment upon delivery for freight damage and note complaint with carrier.
  2. Protect bicycle racks during storage and installation.
  3. Use original packing if possible for storage.
  4. Protect finish of rack from scratches or damage with careful handling.
  5. Do not use sharp blades around the bicycle rack’s soft surface.

1.05Warranty

  1. Provide manufacturer’s standard warranty.
  2. Terms of warranty: 1 year from invoice date against defects in materials or workmanship.

2.01Manufacturer

  1. Provide No Scratch Flattop Inverted U bike rack(s) by Sportworks Northwest, Inc. Rack shall incorporateSantoprene® rubber bumper into design construction to protect bikes. Bumper shall offer a constant service temperature range from -60°C to 135°C (-81°F to 275°F) with no cracking or tackiness.

2.02Materials

  1. Outer tube: 2 x 1 x 0.120 rectangular tubing (stainless steel or mild steel).
  2. Inner bar: 0.25 x 2 flat bar (stainless steel or mild steel).
  3. Soft Pad: Santoprene TPV.
  4. Mounting Feet: 0.375 x 2 x 6 flat bar (stainless steel or mild steel).

2.03Finish

  1. Mild steel.
  2. Pre-coat:
  3. Zinc plating (standard).
  4. Zinc rich primer.
  5. Galvanized.
  6. Top Coat
  7. TGIC Polyester Powder Coat (standard).

Part 3Execution

3.01Installation

  1. Surface Mount:
  2. Install 4 fasteners per bicycle rack as designated in manufacturer specifications.
  3. Install bicycle rack in accordance with APBP recommendations for location and spacing.
  4. Embedded Mount:
  5. Approximately 10” of each bicycle rack leg should be embedded in the concrete.
  6. The installer is responsible for ensuring the mounting surface and installation method are adequate to support and secure the bicycle rack.
