The April 9, 2013 meeting was called to order at 2:32 p.m.

Approval of Agenda:

Motion: To approve the April 9, 2013 agenda.

Approval of Minutes:

Add-The curriculum committee requested that Jon Satko discuss with Academic Senate and possibly CLC the local Porterville College GE requirements to ensure that the courses we list as satisfying various areas and learning outcomes identified are accurate. Also, ask who should be on (and has the appropriate authority) a committee/subcommittee for making the determination/recommendation.

Update catalog description, core mission, program applicability, SLOs, and the textbook.

2.  ADMJ P102-Table

Combine SLO #3 and #4. Remove the word “Critically” from SLO #8.

3. AGRI P132-Table

Previously AGRI P132 could be an option in place of Math P061. Math P061 is a basic skills course and AGRI P132 is a transferable course. Craig will check to see if the CSUs require a Math prerequisite for AGRI P132.

4. CHDV P223

Miles raised a concern that the course does not have any prerequisites. Updated program applicability and topical outline.

A hard prerequisite was added without a content review.

6. PHED P122

Changed hours from 90 to 87.5 (90 equals 1 unit and 175 equals 2 units for intercollegiate sports). The change is due to the mandate on repeatability and intercollegiate sports for state apportionment. Intercollegiate athletics shall not be claimed for more than 350 hours per year.

Old Business:

1.  Curriculum Handbook-Jon Satko would like the committee to vote on this at the next committee meeting.

2.  Units-Jon Satko will ask the Academic Senate

3.  GE Graduation Requirements-Jon Satko will ask the Academic Senate whose charge it is to ask faculty to justify why their course meets a PC GE area. Bill Henry informed the committee that at the CIO meeting the number of GE checklist course options is being discussed statewide.

4.  Prerequisites

Other:

1.  COR-Miles Vega said that he is submitting courses for CSU, UC and CID approval that have typos. He discussed correcting the typos with the committee and will submit an email to Judy, the initiator, and Division Chair when he makes a correction.
