Job Summary
The National Council for Palliative Care is the umbrella charity for all those who are involved in providing, commissioning and using palliative and end of life care services in England, Wales & Northern Ireland. NCPC promotes the extension and improvement of palliative care services for all people with life-threatening and life-limiting conditions. NCPC also leads the Dying Matters Coalition to raise public awarenessof the importance of talking more openly about dying, death and bereavement and of making your end of life wishes known. .
The Events Officer’s key responsibilitiesinclude supporting the Marketing Manager to ensure that all NCPC and Dying Matters events & workshops are delivered to a high standard. The charity delivers a series of national and regional conferences for health and social care professionals and in 2016 will hold a two day residential conference for the first time.It also holds public engagement activities and workshops for people with personal experience of end of life care. This post works across the charity though sits as part of the Communications team.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- To manage the administration and support the marketing of all national and regional events for NCPC and Dying Matters
- To deliver all events to a high standard to ensure all participants and stakeholders have a positive experience of engaging with NCPC & Dying Matters
- To register event and training bookings using NCPC’s thankQ database (or other as appropriate)
- To coordinate development of the yearly programme of events for NCPC and Dying Matters
- To liaise with conference centres, speakers, exhibitors, advertisers, designers, printers, caterers and other key suppliers, negotiating the best prices for products and services
- To evaluate and analyse feedback from delegates, sponsors and partners to enable continuous improvement and development
- To support and supervise temporary / part time volunteers assisting with events as required
- To attend and be responsible for logistics on the day at national and regional conferences
- To coordinate NCPC and Dying Mattersexhibitionstands at external events and other related administration as required
- To promoteand market events via the NCPC and Dying Matters websites, socialmedia and other channels.
- To support the Resources Officer with processing orders, packing of resources and distribution, particularly in the three month period leading up to Dying Matters Awareness Week.
- Other ad hoc admin tasks to help other members of the NCPC and Dying Matters team as and when required.
- Any other duties which may reasonably be required of the post holder.
General
- Post-holders will work within the policies and procedures of the NCPC

The office base is in Central London, but the role involves travel to events around London and other locations around the country when required, as well as occasional working outside office hours.NCPC has a flexible approach to working arrangements.
