Parents and guardians can continue to enter through the main lobby to check in and be directed further if necessary. We appreciate your patience as we continue to clean up and repair the main office.

When the RAMS Return - Welcome to second semester!

Second semester schedules will be distributed in first hour. All students should report to their first hour teacher from first semester. While many students do not have a change in their schedules those that do will be released to move to their second semester class at 7:45am. All late start students will report to the library to pick up their schedule from Mr. Veltrie or Ms. Roy.

Please remember that schedule changes will only be granted if students are placed in the wrong classes. Teacher preferences and/or lunch requests will not be honored. If students are placed in the wrong class they must fill out a schedule change form that can be obtained from their teachers or at the counseling center. This form must be signed by a parent and returned to the counseling center. Counselors will call the student to their office. Please do not have students report directly to counselors as they will schedule the appointments with students based on immediate needs.

A Recap of RAM PRIDE!

As second semester begins I wanted to take time to reflect on some of the wonderful things that have made MHS a great school.

·  MHS Homecoming set the stage and is now a full community event celebrating its first Homecoming Parade, Alumni Football Game and Bon Fire at Copper Sky.

·  There has been a 50% increase in the number of MHS students taking the PSAT test thanks to our counselor Larry Veltrie and our Career Counseling Center under the direction of Mr. Al Shirley.

·  To date we have over $200,000 offered in scholarships to our students and look forward to meeting and beating the 2 .3 million dollar mark from last year.

·  The number of seniors applying to college has increased by 25% to date. University of Arizona and ASU top the numbers followed by NAU.

·  MHS was awarded a $16,000 Intel grant for an Aquaponics Lab and Greenhouse Project. We are thrilled to see that our greenhouse will be up and running again soon!

·  The MHS Powder Puff Football Game raised over $1000 for breast cancer research while the ‘He Man’ Volleyball game net nearly $500 for the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life.

·  MHS participated in the Ice Bucket Challenge as students enjoyed seeing administrators get drenched in ice water. MHS donated $250 for ALS.

·  Thanks to our partnership with the City of Maricopa and the University of Arizona, 50 MHS students were able to visit the University of Arizona campus in Tucson to see the Engineering department and get a campus tour. Students interested in engineering also found out about a great summer camp. Details can be found in the Career Center with Mr. Shirley or Mr. Veltrie.

·  MHS DECA students attended the Western Region Leadership Conference in Anaheim, CA.

Kevin Bandin and John Spencer placed in top 10 of test-takers, with more than 1300 student participants.

·  MHS Student Council hosted a Holiday Food and Toy Drive. “Clash of Cans” raised more than 1000 food items for Maricopa while the Student Giving Tree provided gifts for 20 local children.

·  MHS football player ElishaDonaldsonwas voted 1st Team ALL-STATE Wide Receiver by the AZFCA which is the state's coaches association. Additionally RAM football player, Chad Cochran received 1st Team All Section (Offense) and Johnny Johnson received 1st Team All Section (Defense), 1st Team All Section (Returner)

·  THE MHS Boys Basketball team enjoyed playing at the US Airways Center.

·  MHS DECA hosted a Shark Tank Competition awarding Bianca Arnett the winner! The Maricopa business community was very impressed and offered her great incentives to continue to reach her goals.

·  MHS recently added another serving line to the cafeteria by constructing and additional window by the MPR to better serve our ever growing student population.

The list is long and continues to grow. Our students are great! Our staff does a wonderful job of supporting them and helping them realize their goals. We are all very proud to be part of the RAM family.
