Academic Pediatric Congenital Cardiac Surgeon
The Division of Cardiac Surgery, Department of Surgery, Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry at the University of Alberta, is accepting applications for the position of a Fee for Service Pediatric & Adult Congenital Cardiac Surgeon with a Clinical Faculty Appointment. The Division of Cardiac Surgery at the University ofAlberta has one of the largest Pediatric Congenital programs in Canada.
The Division of Cardiac Surgery presently consists of 11 cardiac surgeons and performs the full range of pediatric and adult cardiac operations averaging 1900 cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) cases per year. Additionally, 400-500 non CPB cases are performed. The Division is a major transplantation centre for Western Canada performing approximately 100 heart and lung transplantations annually. The Division is located in the Mazankowski Alberta Heart Institute which combines state of the art clinical facilities with outstanding opportunities in both clinical and basic science research. The Pediatric & Adult Congenital program performs approximately 600 cases per year.
The Division is recruiting a Pediatric &Adultcongenital surgeon to start July 1, 2018 (this date is flexible). The successful applicant will have a job description which includes a significant commitment to Academic Cardiac Surgery with the clinical component to include a full range of Pediatric and Adult Congenital Cardiac Surgery, heart transplantation, and mechanical circulatory support. The successful applicant will participate fully in Divisional research and educational activities. Protected time will be provided.
Applicants must hold an MD or equivalent with completed training in Cardiac Surgery and must be eligible for licensure in the Province of Alberta. The applicant must have obtained the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada Fellowship in Cardiac Surgery or equivalent and have advanced training in Pediatric and Adult Congenital cardiac surgery.
Remuneration will be through a Fee for Service model.
