Grace and peace to you in the name of Christ Jesus our Lord. Good morning beautiful people. I trust that you are experiencing a wonderful ending of our Labor Day weekend. My musing this week will be to share with you two opportunities for learning, conversation, and fun.

The first is the small group study, “Half-Truths.” These are simple everyday phrases that sound Christian … that sound like something you’d find in the Bible. However, when we examine them they become “half-truths” at best, and at worst, they become stumbling blocks for us and for others. What are those half-truths, you ask? They are:

  • Everything happens for a reason.
  • God helps those who help themselves.
  • God won’t give you more than you can handle.
  • God said it. I believe it. That settles it.
  • Love the sinner, hate the sin.

There will be two offering of this study … the information is above. You can sign up in the Welcome Center, email the church office () or call the church office at (910) 336-4409. I invite you to sign up and join in a time of study, conversation, and fellowship. Cheryl Jones and I look forward to seeing you.

The other opportunity for learning, conversation, and fun is our New Trinity Connections Class. The classes will begin on Tuesday, October 4, at 6:30 pm and last for about an hour to an hour and fifteen minutes.

Trinity Connections is a four-week class for:

  • New members
  • Those who may be interested in becoming members

of Trinity United Methodist Church,

  • Those in the church who may have been members

for a while and want to learn more about who Trinity United Methodist Church is and what ministries we offer.

The classes will follow the format below:

October 4 – This will be a meet and greet with some light refreshments. We will have time to get to know one another just a little bit better. We will discuss briefly United Methodism and what makes us unique as a faith group. We will hear from our Emmaus and Kairos Ministries … what they are, the opportunities these ministers give to grow in one’s Christian faith and how these ministries provide us ways to share the love of Christ with others. You will also have an opportunity to share some of your ministry and church experiences and how they have meaningful to you.

October 11 – This class will be an opportunity for you to hear about many of our Small Group Ministries. You will hear representatives from:

Sunday School Classes

Christ Care Groups

E-Teams

United Methodist Men

United Methodist Women

Wonderful Wednesdays Dinner and Fellowship

Saturday Prayer Breakfast

These small group representatives will share about their ministry area, when they meet, and what they do. These speakers will give you opportunity to ask any questions about their particular ministry.

October 18 – During this class a representative from our Missions Committee we will share how Trinity United Methodist Church is involved in mission work … in our community, our state, our nation, and our world. We will also hear from:

Finance & Stewardship Ministries

Children and Youth Ministries

Family Ministries

Stephen Ministries

There will be time given for questions you may have about any of these mission and ministry opportunities and, if you desire, how can become involved.

October 25 – During our last class we will hear from representatives from our Worship Committee and our Music Ministries. They will share about worship and music in the life of Trinity United Methodist Church, and the opportunities for participation. We will then take a walk through the main church campus as well as the Howe Street Annex, ending up in our beautiful sanctuary, where we will celebrate Holy Communion.

You can sign up for Trinity Connections by emailing the church office () or calling the church office at (910) 336-4409. I look forward to seeing our new members, those who have an interest in becoming members of Trinity, and those who are already members but want to know more about Trinity, its ministries and its people.
