5. POST-16 CHOICES – A LEVEL COURSES
Please read guidance notes below and then indicate your choice from each block.
There will be FOUR main blocks of A level subjects. The fifth block is only used if you intend to take Further Mathematics.
Students will take some exams at the end of Year 12 and will gain an AS qualification in at least one subject.
A level exams will be taken in Year 13 which will cover all the work studied in both Years 12 and 13.
Please note that the blocks below are PROVISIONAL and are, therefore, subject to change. Additional classes will be added when we have received student applications. It is also possible that classes may not run if there is insufficient demand.
If you choose one subject from each of the main blocks, it is likely that you will be able to have your four choices.
If you are choosing Maths and Further Maths, your remaining subjects must come from blocks A, B and C.
If you are unable to fit your choices into the current block structure you should still request your four choices (or five with Further Mathematics) in order of preference in the table below.

4. / Return the completed form to your tutor or by post to the Sixth Form Admissions Secretary at Bournemouth School for Girls as soon as possible. Please note that applications received before January 31st will be used in forming the final subject blocks, unlike those received after that date.
All applicants will be contacted before Easter to confirm subject choices in relation to the timetable structure.
Year 11 students not at BSG will be invited to visit the school for a meeting with the Headteacher to discuss their choices further and to find out more about the school. Parents are welcome to attend too. These meetings will be held in February / March and invitations will be by letter.
All applicants offered a place in the Sixth Form will be invited to an Induction Morning on Wednesday 28th June 2017 after GCSE examinations where you will meet your tutor and other members of your Tutor Group. You will also receive an Induction Pack which contains details of what to do after GCSE examination results are published in August 2017.
