2017 MEAT GOAT MARKET AND BREEDING DOE SHOW RULES AND REGULATIONS

1.  Goats must be in possession of the exhibitor by February 24, 2017. All goats must be officially nominated and registered with the show manager by February 28, 2017. No goat may be substituted with another after this date.

2.  The market meat goat show will consist only of market classes made up of open wethers and does only. The breeding show will consist of meat goat does that have not kidded. All goats must be of meat type breeding. Goats do not have to be purebred. No dairy or pygmy types accepted.

3.  All market goats must be kids and must show milk teeth and show no rupture of either two permanent front teeth (this usually happens between 10-14 months of age and then the goat is considered a yearling.) Any goat showing rupture of either of the two permanent front teeth on show day when graded may not be allowed to show, so please select your animals to avoid this issue. The grader will have the final say when mouthing goats.

4.  A limit of 2 goats and/or lambs per 4-H or FFA member may be entered into the show. Each exhibitor may show 2 market goats, 2 market lambs or one of each.

5.  Goats must be clean for showing and may be shown with a goat collar or halter. The use of muzzles,

spiked or pinched collars are not allowed.

6.  It is not required for goats to be clipped, however clipping may enhance appearances and should be done prior to show day. Goats must be shown clean and “dry.”

7.  Goats with sharp horns may need to be tipped prior to the show to avoid injury to exhibitors, guests, or other animals.

8.  Classes will be divided by weight categories as determined by the show committee. There will be a minimum weight of 60 lbs for goats to sell. Classes will be divided by weight and there will be no exceptions or re-weighs.

9.  All meat goat entries will be officially graded by the State Division of Markets and weighed upon arrival for the show.

10.  All goats entered must be sold unless the show chairman receives notice before the show.

11.  ALL Champion and Reserve Champion Goats MUST be sold through the show sale.
