2 Day Induction Courses for Patient Handling Staff

Nominations

Nominations are to be made tomoving& or by letter to Moving and Handling Administration, West Glasgow ACH, 5th Floor Ward 5A,Dalnair Street G3 8SJ.

Acceptance onto a course will be confirmed to the nominating person, who will be responsible for ensuring relevant details of the course are communicated to the delegate. If the course is full and the nomination unable to be accepted, the nominating person will be informed.

When making a nomination please use the enclosed form and provide:

  • the delegates name, job title,Payroll Number (or Date of Birth if Payroll No. not known) etc.
  • the date and venue of the course(s) being nominated for
  • your own name and telephone number.

Courses

These 2 day Induction courses are generally aimed at Nursing, Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy staff. Onlystaffnew to the organisation are to be nominated onto these courses. The Courses comply with the Scottish Manual Handling Passport Scheme standards.

*Partnership staff should attend the courses delivered at WGACH 5A (Old Yorkhill)

*Partnerships = MH, LD, DN, Domicillary workers etc…..

The Moving and Handling Team can be approached directly by Line Managers if staff other than new starts are identified as high priority. High priority staff may include those with an identified Occupational Health issue or staff returning to ward based activity after a prolonged absence.

Any staff from the Acute Divisioncan attend at any of the course venues below.

Records

Attendance will be recorded on Empower by the M&H Team. In addition, each Local Manager has a duty to keep a record of who has attended training. To assist with this, if a delegate does not attend, the nominating person will be contacted that day to inform them of the non-attendance. For our own records we will request a reason for non-attendance if known.

When nominating staff for the M&H courses via email, in the subject box of your email, type the first month nominated e.g. if nominations for October and November the subject is ‘October’

Please remember, only staff new to the organisation, without a manual handling passport, should be nominated to this course. If in doubt please contact a member of the moving and handling team
