Location

/ Flying into the Dominican Republic you may notice the turquoise water from above. The perfect body of water is called the Caribbean Sea. The south side of The Dominican Republic flourishes with life with many people living in the Capital city, Santo Domingo. Traveling west from the capital we can see beautiful plants and trees that they have in the Dominican Republic. Soon you reach the boarder of Haiti. Haiti and the Dominican Republic used to have a shaky relationship because of the wars in the past, but when the earthquake happened in Haiti the Dominicans helped them out. The Dominican is a place that is traveled to a lot. If you where to fly out of Europe which is North East of the Dominican you would most likely land in the beautiful city of Santo Domingo. The Caribbean has its own time zone which the Dominican lies in. My fun fact is that the Dominican Republic was part of Hispaniola. /

Place

/ After arriving in the Dominican Republic the first thing you may notice is the 1,000 miles of gorgeous white sandy beaches. Looking around on the beach you can gaze upon the beautiful turquois water that almost seems like it glows. You can find many islands located in the Atlantic to the north and in the Caribbean Sea to the south.You may venture to many of these surrounding islands on a boatif you're looking for some extra enjoyment. The 27 waterfalls of Damajagua is an extremely large and alluring chain of 27 waterfalls you can be entertained by. You can dive, jump, and plunge into the glorious sparkling pools below the waterfalls. If you are not interested in the Dominican Republics many water attractions, maybe the vast number of magnificentmountain ranges that cover half of the country will interest you. The Cordillera Central mountain range contains the highest point in the Dominican Republic, known as Pico Duarte. If you just so happen to not like water or extreme heights, you may find some fun underground at the Fun Fun Cave. This type of tour is not your regular walk in the park. First, you will go through a series of hikes partly on horses and partly just on foot. Once you get to the cave you will be lowered about twenty meters underground. From then on your guide will take you through many different tunnels and passage ways. Without a doubt you will never forget this experience.Because of the hot temperatures in the Dominican Republic, many people wear summer clothes such as shorts, t-shirts, tank tops, and sandals. On special occasions the women of the Dominican Republic will wear beautiful bright colorful dresses of red, orange, and yellow. These dresses are known as Creole dresses and they are a huge symbol of the Dominican Republic. The most common religion in the Dominican Republic is Roman Catholic. Over 90% practice the Roman Catholic religion. Other smaller religions that are practiced include Protestant, Baptist, Mormon, and Jewish. Many historic buildings stand in the countries capital, Santo Domingo. The ForalezaOzma also known as the Ozama Fort was built to protect and defend Santo Domingo from pirates and foreign invaders. The Alcázar de Colón was home the governor of the colony in 1510 who was also Christopher Columbus' son. Also, the Dominican Republic was the first country/place Christopher Columbus settled on in the New World in 1492. /

/ When stay at Dominican Republic and you see the white sandy beaches and the clear ocean water. Whoyou think is maintaining them ? Who is making the cocoa candy(made from the cocoa beans) and the place you are staying at and the jewelry and silver coins they use. Where do they come from? From the earth! Silver is one of there most important resource they use and gold and ect. the people are making them so great for us, they are maintain them. in the back ground, in forest or in mountain they are mining or cutting down trees for the thing they want or for us.
Fun Fact
The Dominican flag is the only one to have a bible in it. Adopted on November 6, 1844, this is one of the oldest flags in the world. It has its roots in the Haitian flag of the 19th century. /

Human environment interaction

/ Sitting on a beach staring at the clear blue water in January watching humpback whales in the distance. or walking to the nature preserves for other wild animals. They have some of the best golf courses in the world they have lots of farms in the Dominican Republic because they grow there own food make a lot of there own stuff. When you get to The Dominican republic you can stay in some of the great hotel.
Or get a great house that over looks the beach.
