CLASS TITLE:FACILITIES SHIFT SUPERVISOR - SES

ALLOCATION FACTOR(S)

This is work assisting the Regional Service Center Superintendent in all matters relating to facility safety, security, maintenance and custodial services on an assigned work shift. The primary duty of employee(s) in the position(s) allocated to this class is to spend a major portion of the time communicating with, motivating, training and evaluating employees, planning and directing their work; and having the authority to hire, transfer, suspend, layoff, recall, promote, discharge, assign, reward or discipline subordinate employees or to effectively recommend such actions.

  • Performs supervisory tasks applicable to facility safety, security and building custodial services.
  • Motivates employees to improve the quality and quantity of work performed.
  • Monitors contract security patrol services.
  • Supervises activation of fire/security monitoring system.
  • Supervises security staff responsible for securing the building at the close of shift.
  • Supervises maintenance support personnel as assigned.
  • Plans work loads, work flows, deadlines, work objectives and time utilization with employees.
  • Evaluates employees through establishing evaluation criteria and responsibilities and meets regularly with employees to ensure the established criteria are met.
  • Trains employees in methods for performing an effective and efficient job.
  • Communicates on a regular basis with employees, both individually and in staff meetings.
  • Directs the work of employees to ensure best use of time and resources.
  • Assigns and supervises security guards engaged in routine safety, security and fire inspections of the facility.
  • Checks building for security, fire and safety hazards.
  • Checks building interior doors for proper security hazards.
  • Checks building exterior doors for proper security.
  • Verifies fire alarm system for proper operation.
  • Escorts persons to their vehicles.
  • Assigns and supervises a group of custodial workers engaged in sweeping, mopping, waxing and dusting floors, cleaning walls and cleaning and waxing furniture and woodwork.
  • Requisitions janitorial materials, supplies and equipment required.
  • Performs related work as required.
