B/JV Panther Classic 2012

September 7 & 8, 2012

Welcome to the 2012 Panther Classic Volleyball Tournament. There will be TWO sites for the tournament: Palo Verde High School (JV teams) and Sig Rogich Middle School (B Teams). The schools are in the same complex, so players/coaches can walk from gym to gym as needed. The Palo Verde gym will be open at 2:30pm for teams to warm-up. Rogich Middle School will be open at 2:30pm for teams to warm-up as well. The tournament is set up into pool play on Friday evening and Saturday morning (B teams only), and a single-elimination tournament on Saturday. All teams are guaranteed 4 matches.

Friday Afternoon September 7 - Pool Play

Every team will play each team in their pool two out of three games. The first two games will be 25-point rally scoring with a cap of 27 points. The third game will be rally scoring to 15, no cap. High School Federation Rules apply.

Palo Verde will provide scorekeepers and linesmen for the tournament. The times listed below are approximate. Games may start earlier than the scheduled times. Be ready to play!

The warm up for each team’s first match will be 5 minutes; each team will receive 5 minutes on the net to hit and serve. After your first match on either day, the warm up will be 3 minutes per team. (There will be no shared hitting.) Please follow the schedule of play for your pool.

JV Bracket Play: Modified single-elimination tournament

Starts at 8:30am

TOURNAMENT BRACKETS

For JV TEAMS, final tournament seeding for brackets will be determined by pool finish and pool record.ALL teams will be seeded into the championship bracket. Teams that win their first match will continue to a single-elimination Championship bracket, while teams that lose their first match will move into the single-elimination Consolation bracket.

For B TEAMS, ALL teams will be seeded into an 11-team single-elimination bracket. Teams finishing 1st in their pool will earn a first round bye, as well as the TOP-TWO second place teams.

Tiebreaker procedure

Two way tie: The winner of the head-to-head competition is the higher seed.

Three way tie: (1) record of games won

**If this results in one team being eliminated from the tie and the other two teams remain tied then the head to head results from the two tied teams will determine place finish.

(2) record of games lost

*If this results in one team being eliminated from the tie and the other two teams remain tied then the head to head results from the two tied teams will determine place finish.

(3) Overall number of points scored by tied teams against each other in pool play

Awards:

Trophies will be given for first and second place winners of both brackets.

Other Info:

ALL TEAMS will need to provide their own balls for warm-ups.

No food or drink will be allowed in the gym other than water bottles. There will be a concession stand set up outside the gym if players and guests would like to buy snacks and drinks. All food must remain outside – coolers/boxes of food must remain outside the lobby.

Admission:

Adults will be $3.00 and Students will be $2.00. Children under 8 years old are free.

NIAA and CCSD passes will be accepted, but all other passes will not be valid.
