AHOUSE RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR WILLIAM PARKER TUTEN, JR., UPON THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT AFTER THIRTYSIX YEARS OF OUTSTANDING SERVICE AND TO WISH HIM CONTINUED SUCCESS AND HAPPINESS IN ALL HIS FUTURE ENDEAVORS.

Whereas, it is altogether fitting and proper that the members of the House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina should pause in their deliberations to express their gratitude to William “Bill” Tuten, Jr., for his significant contributions to Hampton County; and

Whereas, born in Atlanta, Georgia, on May 13, 1946, Bill is the son of Colonel Wilson Parker “Red” Tuten, Sr., and Elizabeth Ann “Libby” Upshaw Tuten; and

Whereas, on November 22, 1979, he married the love of his life Jane Tuten. Their life together has been blessed with two cherished daughters, Katie and Rebecca; and

Whereas, Bill’s career led him to the Air Force and later to teach at Estill High School in Hampton County and Jackson High School in Aiken County; and

Whereas, following in his father’s footsteps, Bill, on August 5, 1981, became the Hampton County Treasurer. He has worked diligently in this role and will continue to do so until his retirement on June 30, 2017; and

Whereas, Hampton County has benefitted under the expertise of Bill these past thirtysix years. He will be sorely missed; and

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representativesare grateful for the years of dedication that Bill has devoted to Hampton County and wish him many years of enjoyment in his wellearned retirement. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the House of Representatives of South Carolina, by this resolution, recognize and honor William Parker Tuten, Jr., upon the occasion of his retirement after thirtysix years of outstanding service and wish him continued success and happiness in all his future endeavors.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to William Parker “Bill” Tuten, Jr.
