Commander’s Report
We continue to have great attendance even during our transition to our new location in Edgewater. Commander Tom Dale, 1st Lt Commander Mike Hinton, Adjutant Ron Poling, Treasurer Scott Talbott, Color Sgt. Tom Dale Jr., Quartermaster Matt Duvall, members Bob Radtke, Eric O’Dell, and Dave Baldacchino, Friends of the Camp Robert Weir and Rose Kenney were all present at this month’s meeting.
We discussed the book “The War was not about Slavery”. Everyone really enjoyed it and is hopeful that a volume #2 will soon be following. We collected payment for the sale of our trailer which will allow us the opportunity to help our camp and support our charge. We are always looking to recruit new members and friends of the camp. I have had several inquiries about our camp from people looking to join the SCV. I am in the process of making contact and hope they will be at our November meeting.
Bring cash or check to the November meeting because dues are due in the amount of $45.00.
Ron Poling and his wife, Sheryl and I had a great time at our Mike’s dinner gathering. Unfortunately, no one else made it due to work and a dog attack of all things (Eric is fine thank goodness). We hope more of you will be able to make our next gathering.
It is crunch time for the sale of our tickets for our Battle of South Mountain print. It has been a challenge but we still have a little time before the December winner is picked. We all need to make an effort to get these tickets sold. It will make a difference to our camp and someone will enjoy a beautiful picture for only a $5.00 donation.

‘Personal Accounts of the Civil War Experience’
Through November 12,2011
This exhibit will bring to life the personal side of war through the objects and stories of the people who personally witnessed and participated in the war. The objects on display represent both sides of the conflict, and have come to us directly from their descendants with their individual stories. These artifacts, having never before been on public display, include family silver buried during the conflict, Cavalry brasses, Robert E. Lee, Governor Hicks, and Gilmore family items, furniture, Masonic aprons, flags and letters and diaries written by the soldiers.

SCOUTS, VENTURERS & Visitors: You and your unit are invited to join with all Re-enactors at the fall Event, November18-20, 2011. This showcase of our Civil War history will include many community groups. A dedicated staff of scouting volunteers is working hard to put together this extravaganza. We have planned events and activities that will give all Scouts challenges, fun and excitement. Make sure to come out and join with us as we all celebrate our history! Something new this year is a combined effort with 2 Districts putting on this program. Scouts will learn about Civil War soldiers, their life and times, and how their service helped all of us as a nation. In so doing, we keep alive the memory of their sacrifices, teach the true history of the War Between the States, and generate respect for our flags and love of our nation. All of you will have the opportunity to visit the onsite museum and varieties of vendors and historical groups that will be present with displays, demonstrations and interactive events.
