LOGISTICAL NOTE FOR THE LEBANON FIELD VISIT
ON 19 AND 20 NOVEMBER 2009
Transportation:
Ground Transportation
UNRWA will provide ground transportation throughout this Field Visit. Specifically:
- On 19November and 20 November from Movenpick Dead Sea to the Airport
- For those arriving evening of 19 November, from the Airport to the Le Commodore Hotel and Crowne Plaza Hotel.
- For those arriving on morning of 20 November, immediately join the Field Visit
- On 20 November throughout the Lebanon Field Visit.

Please note that participants are responsible for:
- Makingflight arrangements from the HDM on 19 November or 20 November toBeirut for the Lebanon Field Visit.
- Making travel arrangements for departure following the Field Visit.

Please note there is limited availability on these flights. Participants are therefore encouraged to make their flight arrangements as soon as possible.
Visas
Participants are responsible for obtaining the necessary visas and security clearances to Jordan and Lebanon. Those who wish to participate in the Field Visit are encouraged to secure their travel documentation well in advance.
Visa for Jordan
Holders of diplomatic passports and holders of regular passports from the European Union countries, and all AdCom member countries can obtain a visa upon arrival at the Queen Alia airport or at the bridges. Additionally, JerusalemID holders can obtain a visa for free upon their arrival in Jordan.
Please note that a visa for holders of diplomatic passports is free while a visa for regular passport holders costs JD 10.
Visa for Lebanon
In order to register to Lebanon Field visit, pleas send your confirmation to our dedicated contact point is Mr. Issam Wahba (telephone: 02-5890454 mobile: 054-2402643 and email ), and a copy of your clean passport.
Holders of diplomatic passports may get their visa upon arrival at any Lebanese border crossing.
Holders of regular passports (of the nationalities not mentioned below) and Jerusalem ID Holders and temporary Jordanian passport (without national Number)must apply for a Lebanese visa to the Lebanese embassy in their capitals or in the Lebanese embassy in Amman.
Hotel Arrangements-Lebanon
Please note that participants are responsible for making their own hotel arrangements.
For those that wish to stay at the Le Commodore Hotel, Beirut from19 to 21 November, please note the following:
- A limited number of rooms have been reserved at the UN rate until 20 November 2009.
- Rooms are USD 69for a single and USD 84 for a double with breakfast - Rates are subject to a 10% Government Tax.
- When making your reservation, mention that you are participating in the UNRWA Field Visit to take advantage of the UN rate.

FIELD VISIT TO LEBANON ITINERARY
20-21 NOVEMBER 2008
Arrive in Beirut on either the evening of 19 November or early morning of 20 November
20 November – Field visit to Nahr el-Bared Camp and Adjacent Areas
9am – Depart Beirut for NBC
11.00am-12.30pm - NBC Recovery and Reconstruction
- Walk through “Prime E” – badly damaged area outside of the official camp.
- NBC Reconstruction – View area of official camp (where rubble removal and demining operations had taken place) – briefing by Head of Northern Management Unit.
12.30-1pm - Snack lunch
1.00-3.00pm - Adjacent Areas
Donors will be divided up into the following thematic groups:
- Protection – Site visit involving briefings and discussions with the community, NGOs and UN on access/permit issues, child protection, gender-based violence;
- Shelter during the reconstruction – Visits to temporary shelter sites 674 and 385, rented premises, review of watsan facilities, discussions with displaced refugees and community representatives;
- Economic recovery– Visits to reactivated businesses and Emergency Employment Services Centre, discussions with local entreprenuers and NBC Traders’ Committee, ILO and NGOs supporting skills-training and employment services;
- Participatory Approach – Briefing on the planning process for the reconstruction and discussion with UNRWA design unit, the Nahr el-Bared Reconstruction Commission for Civil Action and Studies (NBRC) and NBC families (in NBRC office).
3.00pm – Regroup and depart NBC adjacent areas for Tripoli
3.30-4.30pm - Northern Management Unit (NMU) compound, Tripoli

4.30pm: Return to Beirut
6.30pm: Arrive Beirut
7.30pm: Leave hotel for DUAL’s residence
8.00-9.30pm: Evening reception (DUAL’s residence) – to be confirmed
