Trail Boss Report

Darren and Kathy Roth went to the AWSC Workshop and learned that the club has to pay $150.00 yearly for any private rail road crossing we use cross on private land. This is per rail road crossing and it is not a one-time fee. This fee is to be paid per crossing every year. It was discussed if we might find a way to go around these railroad crossing. In addition to have these permits to cross the rail roads the club is also responsible for picking up a 2 million dollar policy. We currently have a 1 million dollar policy in place.

This was discussed at the officers meeting Monday night and if we are able to bypass the railroads completely in for instance Brodhead? Dave Cook is going to talk to the Orfordville Snowmobile Club to see what they want to do!

If anyone needs anything as far as sign, posts etc. let Darren know.

The 8th Street bridge – supposedly the DNR bought the machine and the club will have to by the drag but as of this meeting the tracks are still up for discussion. It is a bigger machine but smaller than a tractor.

The drag is $9500.00 and we would have to insure it.

At the AWSC conference it was also discussed about trail stickers, which will help get more money into the clubs.

It would cost $30.00 a year unless you are a member of a club then the fee would be $15.00 annually.

November 13th at the Wisconsin Capital, need members who can participate to show up in their snowmobile shirt/jackets.

It was also brought up that there is a survey on the AWSC website that you can check out and participate in.

The next AWSC Work Shop is scheduled to be at Chula Vista in Wisconsin Dells next year in December.

Poker Run

At our last meeting we had talked about maybe having a Poker Run and wanted the members to think about until this meeting. Last year we did not have a lot of snow so the Poker Run was done in vehicles. He said that there was not a great turnout because of barely any snow. There was not a lot of interest in so it was put on the backburner for now. There will be no Poker run.

Early Member ship Drive:

Anyone who pays their dues early will be entered into a drawing for a gift certificate to Billy’s Sand Trap at the Decatur Lake Golf Course in Brodhead. So if you haven’t paid your dues yet you have until the next meeting which is December 5th to get them paid. Drawing will that night at the meeting.

Apparel Order:

Shirt Orders was due tonight. Thank you to all who placed an order (it was a large order). A motion was made to let the person who designed out logo pick out a shirt of her choice on the club. Rudy Ammon and Amanda Swedlund - motion carried.

Work Day:

Reminder that the Work Day is December 7th and help is needed on that same night is also the Bon Fire at Darren and Kathy Roth.

General Stuff:

Map Boxes was brought up due to more sponsors have been added to the map. It was discussed and approved to buy some plastic containers for the map box. Voted and motion was carried by Dusty Kubly and Amanda Swedlund.

Talked about the GastHaus who wanted to be on the trail map and have a trail go their hotel, as for now Rudy Ammon is looking into it.

Safety Class is November 20th and November 23rd, cost is $15.00. Kathy Roth and Laurie Schwarzenberger will make food for the class. Rudy Ammon and Jerry Nolte made motion to have knit caps (25) with our logo on them handed out to each student for passing the safety course.

Raffle tickets Dusty said that so far 120 tickets have been check out there are 350 of them. We need to start selling and talk to business/sponsors about selling them too. Please contact Dusty to get the tickets and start promoting and selling.

Donations:

The scholar ship fund issue was brought up and someone suggested FFA (Future Farmers of America) which would great publicity for the club. Another suggestion was for any future kids participating in the Snowmobile Safety Course that the club pays the fee and hand them a member ship form.

The Donation/Scholarship committee would consist of: Kathy Roth, Berit Harpstrite, Amanda Swedlund, Ashley Foster and Laurie Schwarzenberger. The committee will get back with suggestions etc. at our next upcoming meeting.

Landowner Gift Boxes:

Eric Diemer said that the gift boxes we have given out to the landowners the last couple of years will be handled by Colony Brands again.

Insurance on Equipment:

Kathy Roth is in the process of getting quotes from insurance companies for the club. We are currently carrying a 1 million dollar policy and with the railroad issue we have to increase it to 2 million. Currently we have the groomer and drag insured with one insurance company and landowner insurance etc. at another insurance company. We are looking into possible combining both insurances. It would make it easier to have everything on one policy.

Kathy would like to start a committee who can help her research the best options for the club.

The trail going to Billy’s Sandtrap is real close to be shut down. Snowmobilers are going off of the trail. The discussion is that we need to mark the trail better. One suggestion was putting up stakes with baler twine as fence. Any suggestions would be appreciated so we do not lose the ability to get to Billy’s.

Kathy Roth learned from the AWSC Work Shop that as a club we can’t pay the groomers anymore, if we do they have to be considered employees which we would then have to obtain Workers Compensation Insurance. It was tabled until next meeting so we can come up with a solution to this.

Jon Ammon said that any Wisconsin Snowmobiler going into Illinois will have to have an Illinois State trail pass at a cost of $25.00 for a year. Quite a few businesses have the stickers available. He said the DNR is all over the place.

Meeting Adjourned

Ted Davis asked if there was any additional new business. He then asked for a motion to adjourn. Joe Schwarzenberger made the motion to adjourn and Pete Goepfert seconded the motion. Meeting was adjourned at approximately 8:48pm.
