RE: Request for Records Pursuant to the Georgia Open Records Act and FERPA

Mr. Flintstone:

Pursuant to the Georgia Open Records Law (O.C.G.A. Section 50-18-70 et seq.) (the "Law"), and the Federal Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), you are hereby requested to make available for review and possible copying, the following records of my child, Eddie Munster, hereinafter referred to as “my child”:

Please make available for my inspection allof my child’s files, records andevery communication document received by or created in behalf of Barney Rubble High Schoolfor the entire period of the second semester of the 2015-2016 school year in which either (1) my child’s student personally identifiable information (PII) appears or (2) reference is made such that a reasonable person in the school community could link my child’s personal identity to the otherwise unidentified Barney Rubble High School student. For purposes of this request, “communication document” includes, letter, email, electronic text, memorandum of telephone call, any record of correspondence or discussions in whatever tangible medium including any computer generated, electronic or digital format.

This request addresses records from any, individual, government agency, orother entities/sources to any and all intended recipients and records in paper as well as electronic format. It also addresses records that are “work in progress” at the present time and drafts of records finalized in some different form. It does not exclude records that I, my child or Herman Munster, originated or submitted to Barney Rubble High School. It does not exclude any record previously made available. It includes calendars, appointment books, and scheduling information maintained by any Barney Rubble High School/Bedrock School District employee if such records contain PII relating to my child and it should include any and all “records” concerning my child’s “advisement” at Barney Rubble High School. Many of these records are not official records maintained by the dean’s office but they are “education records” directly related to my child and must be made available upon my request because of provisions of FERPA.

If this request is denied in whole or in part, I ask that you cite in writing the specific statutory exemption upon which you have relied, as required by law. I also ask that you release all separate portions of otherwise exempt material. Please waive any costs associated with this request, or first inform me about such costs as required by law.

As you are aware, the Law requires a response by you within three (3) business days of your receipt of this letter and provides sanctions for non-compliance.Thank you in advance for your prompt attention to this matter. If you have any questions, please contact me at your leisure.

Best regards,

Lilly Munster
