ESSINGTON COMMUNITY CENTRE – MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE

MINUTES of the Management Committee meeting held on Monday 6th October 2014 at 7.00 pm at Council Chamber Essington Community Centre.

The Chairman Councillor David Clifft opened the meeting and welcomed Members.

TENNANT & PUBLIC PARTICIPATION

2 Members of Brownshore Playgroup Committee attended the meeting and handed in their business plan, accounts and forecast for the forthcoming year for Council consideration. They also presented the picket fence which they proposed to erect to form an outside play area.

3. Minutes of last meeting held oN 4th June 2014

The minutes were proposed by Councillor Bryn Whitehouse and seconded by Councillor Beryl Tarbuck as an accurate record and carried.

4. Matters arising from the minutes of the last meeting

None

5. centres

The Pavilions – no comments, the clerk confirmed that the footpath from Broad Lane to Bursnip Road has now been cleared with the assistance of Walsall FC.

Long Lane – Teddybears Nursery – no comments

Long Lane - Open Space – The canal is at present being dredged no equipment is being left on site.

Long Lane Wyrley FC – The work on the entrance gate has not been done, the clerk with chase up.

Long Lane –Rover 75 Club –Councillor Winston Haddon commented on a recent email received from the club regarding hire of the open space. Members discussed the comments and agreed that the policy set out by Council must stand, the clerk will acknowledge the email.

High Hill – The rugby club want to meet the Council on site as soon as possible, meeting to be arranged on a Saturday morning onsite.

The Nicket – Horses – A resident has complained about horses being ridden on the land. Members discussed the concerns and agreed to monitor the use and if necessary erect signage stating no horses.

ECC –

Bar Facilities – Members discussed the facility and after further investigation will consider the options.

Kitchen – No bookings using the kitchen until after 11.00am on Saturdays.

Blocker – Members discussed the maintenance costs.

Tearoom – The Chairman commented on and the ongoing success of the tearoom and parlour. Councillor Beryl Tarbuck commented on the doors being left open through the Craft Centre causing a draft to customers in the tearoom.

Old School Hall – The Chairman commented on the popularity of the Craft Centre.

Brownshore Playgroup – as discussed in Tennant & Public participation.

Swanpark Playarea – The Chairman confirmed that the Committee would like permission to widen the existing gateway for disable & pushchair access and install a lockable gate from the community centre to the play area, this was proposed by Councillor June Smallman seconded by Councillor Denise James and carried.

6. ECC – Phase 8 Refurbishment – The Chairman commented on the replacement of the roof in the Council Chamber & Anteroom and the relocation of the drain from within the chamber to outside, this was proposed by Councillor Stephen Rennison seconded by Councillor Chris Steel and carried.

7. Finance

The Clerk presented to the meeting statements of receipts and payments up to the 30th September 2014 all centres,

Essington Community Centre – no comments proposed by Councillor Beryl Tarbuck seconded by Councillor Winston Haddon and carried.

The Pavilions Broad Lane no comments proposed by Councillor Beryl Tarbuck and seconded by Councillor Mavis North(Vice-Chairman) and carried.

Long Lane Open space – no comments proposed by The Chairman and carried.

Long Lane Teddy Bears – no comments proposed by the Chairman and carried.

High Hill – no comments proposed by Councillor Ken Pace seconded by Councillor Stephen Rennison and carried.
