Homework Policy:

Homework is given regularly and is due at the beginning of class on the due date. If a student does not have their homework assignment done the day that it is due that assignment will not be accepted for a grade. The following grading system is used for most, but not all, homework assignments:

20/20 / If the student completes the assignment and has revised spelling, punctuation, grammar and there is apparent effort put into the assignment
15/20 / If the student completes the assignment but there are spelling, punctuation and grammatical errors.
10/20 / If the student fails to complete the entire assignment or there is a lack of effort. Student did not use complete sentences.
0/20 / If the student fails to hand in the assignment.

*Major papers and projects will have a rolling deadline. No late papers or projects will be accepted after the final due date.

Classroom Expectations:

1.  Students are expected to be in their seats and ready to learn when the bell rings.

2.  Students are expected to bring their English binders, homework, required book, and two pens to class daily. If a student comes to class without something to write with, the teachers will not give out a pen or pencil.

3.  Students are expected to raise their hands and wait to be called on before speaking.

4.  Socializing, disrespecting others or any type of disruptive behavior which hinders the learning process is unacceptable.

5.  All students are expected to write in complete sentences on study guides, homework and classwork.

6.  Cell phones and iPods will not be permitted during class time. The first time a student is caught using a cell phone or iPod; it will be taken away for the remainder of class. Any additional infractions the cell phone will be delivered to the main office and a parent will be expected to pick it up at the end of the day.

Other Procedures:

1.  Students should take care of drinking fountain and bathroom needs before class. Planner passes will be signed for emergencies only.

2.  If a student is absent, the day he/she returns, he/she should see me during homeroom or after class in order to get missed work. The student may also find missed assignments on my website. Any questions regarding the work can be addressed after class or after school. Bus passes will be available.

3.  If a student has a music lesson/appointment or field trip they should notify the teacher prior to the missed class.

4.  If a student is late to class, he/she must immediately pick up the handouts and notebook and join the lesson in the least disruptive manner possible. Missed information can be covered after class. Late students will be given three warnings before they are assigned detention.
