Double Dribble Basketball League Rules

  1. Clinic Format
  1. In the kindergarten division, guest coaches will conduct the shooting, dribbling, passing and footwork/defensive drills for the first two weeks. Double Dribble coaches are expected to assist. Coaches will combine skills taught during the first two weeks and incorporate into team offense & defense.
  2. In the 1st grade division, a guest coach will be working the clinic (first week only) conducting shooting, dribbling, passing and footwork/defensive drills. Double Dribble coaches are expected to assist.
  1. Game Format
  1. 1st gradeboys’ & girls’ games will consist of eight (8) 5-minute periods. Kindergarten boys’ &girls’ games will consist of eight (8) 5-minute periods.
  2. No jump ball. Teams will alternate taking the ball out of bounds at the beginning of each period.
  3. Substitute after each 5-minute period. Coaches to be warned when there is (1) minute left in each period so they can have their substitutes ready to report to the scorer’s table. Coaches – Ensure that each player receives equitable playing time.
  4. In the 1st grade division, only one (1) coach will be allowed on the floor during the game. In the kindergarten division, two (2) coaches will be allowed on the floor. In either case, the remaining coach(es) must sit on the bench.
  1. Rules
  1. For the safety of all players, the wearing of ANY jewelry is NOT ALLOWED.
  2. All players & coaches must wear basketball appropriate attire incl. shoes – No flip flops.
  3. Please turn cell phones off before & during game and until after snacks.
  4. All Divisions will shoot at 8-foot baskets.
  5. No fast breaks will be allowed.
  6. No back court pressing.
  7. Only Zone defenses are allowed.
  8. No double-teaming on defense is permitted.
  9. A neutral zone will be enforced.
  10. No foul shots. The ball will be taken out of bounds after all fouls.
  11. All held balls will be awarded to the defensive team.
  12. No score will be kept.
  13. One (1) time-out per half, time permitting.
  14. Half-time for 1st grade division will be five (5) minutes.
  15. Half-time for kindergarten divisions will be three (3) minutes. Time constraints may shorten half-times.
