Special Off-Track Homework Packet About Families
A special homework packet is being sent home this week. It is due in January. Because it involves a lot of work with parents and grandparents, it should be started or completed during the six weeks the students don’t have school and when families are together during Thanksgiving and Christmas vacations. Do not lose the packet, especially the autobiography. All work must be written by the student in his or her own printing. Use the forms provided. Do not make your own forms or booklet.
Citizenship Due This Friday
(Examples: help with dishes, make bed, clean room, set table, entertain a sibling, take turns, share, etc.)

This Week’s Curriculum Information
For our science, we will finish our study of paleontology by constructing "skeletons" make of chenille stems.
We will read about Thanksgiving and use the district's Step Up to Writing to write about things for which we are thankful. We will also work with dictionaries.
In math this week we will finish the unit on double digit subtraction. We will use addition to check subtraction, choose different ways to do subtraction problems, solve two-question problems, and take the test.
There are no math facts this week because we can’t have a test next week when there is no school.
If you have questions over the break about the Family Homework Packet, please e-mail me at . I won’t be checking my e-mail every day during our off-track and vacation time, but I will try to check it a couple of times a week.
If you want more ideas for off-track enrichment work, consider the pages of ideas I gave you at our parent/teacher conference. You can also go to my webpage at http://www.cnusd.k12.ca.us/lies. Go to “Teacher Sites” on the top bar, then “B. Rouse,” and then “Informational Pages.”
