A RESOLUTION adjourning the Senate in honor of Erin Boley upon being named the 2013-2014 Gatorade Kentucky Girls' Basketball Player of the Year.
WHEREAS, the Gatorade Player of the Year Award recognizes not only athletic excellence, but also high standards of academic achievement and exemplary character demonstrated on and off the court; and
WHEREAS, Erin Boley, a sophomore at Elizabethtown High School, became the fifth Elizabethtown athlete to earn the prestigious award, the first girls' basketball player since Dana Schubeler won it in 1998; and
WHEREAS, Erin Boley averaged an impressive 20.4 points, 9.3 rebounds, 2.2 steals, and 1.6 assists per game during the 2013-2014 season. Her individual accomplishments were reflected in the team's play, as the Lady Panthers amassed a record of 29 wins against only 4 losses and easily won the 5th Region championship, which will allow them to play in this week's KHSAA Girls' Sweet Sixteen Basketball Tournament; and
WHEREAS, Erin Boley has an extraordinary two years remaining in an already impeccable career. She is currently rated the number 11 recruit nationally by Blue Star Basketball, and her talent and hard work have caught the attention of many college programs, including national powerhouse UC, which has offered Ms. Boley a scholarship; and
WHEREAS, Erin Boley's goal is to earn two more Gatorade Player of the Year Awards, and also to continue working in the classroom, where she has maintained a perfect 4.0 GPA, is the sophomore class vice president, a member of Elizabethtown High School's Spanish and Pep Club, and has volunteered at a local children's after-school program; and
WHEREAS, this honorable body commends the individual achievements of Erin Boley, who was rightfully named the 2013-2014 Gatorade Kentucky Girls' Basketball Player of the Year; commends the hard work of her coach, Tim Mudd, and his able coaching staff; and grants Ms. Boley best wishes as she continues her decorated high school career;
NOW, THEREFORE,
Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:
âSection 1. The Senate hereby honors Elizabethtown High School's Erin Boley upon being named the 2013-2014 Gatorade Kentucky Girls' Basketball Player of the Year, and wishes her the best of luck as she leads Elizabethtown into the KHSAA Girls' Sweet Sixteen.
âSection 2. When the Senate adjourns this day, it does so in honor of Erin Boley.
âSection 3. The Clerk of the Senate is directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Steve Smallwood, Principal, Elizabethtown High School, 219 Helm Street, Elizabethtown, Kentucky 42701.
