“21st century Job Market Surprising Secrets”

In this paper I will tell you some of the 21st century job markets surprising secrets. I will tell you about two different companies and then I will tell you about how your SAT scores will help you get a job. The first place I will tell you about is Google, yes that is right I did say Google meaning one of the famous search engines that people use every day. Google is known for being a search engine that thousands of people use every day, google started out as a small search engine that not many people used. Now Google is an empire, google started out small and now it is a huge company that hires thousands of people to work for them to keep there empire growing, this paper will explain some of googles hiring process.

First off google looks at your qualities like your strengths and weaknesses. They look for positive qualities for example your strength in working together with others well, or having humility. If you work well with others and you have humility then google would like to have you as a possible employee. “And it is not just humility in creating space for others to contribute, says Bock, it’s “intellectual humility. Without humility, you are unable to learn”. This is saying that you have the normal humility which gives you a sense of responsibility, but what makes you stand out from the crowd is you having intellectual humility.(intellectually-Humble) “Aristotle said, “All people by nature desire to know.” So being intellectually humble is saying that you have a desire to learn and if you get something wrong then you will accept help so you will know how to get it right next time. You won’t have any problems accepting help either ,you will happily accept the help.

Second off they test your abilities for example“If it’s a technical role, we assess your coding ability, and half the roles in the company are technical roles. This is saying that they if you don’t have any idea how to code then you don’t even need to apply for this job even though you might have some other qualities they are looking for but if you don’t have a coding ability then the chances for you to get a job at google will be slim to none. Third of all “is leadership — in particular emergent leadership as opposed to traditional leadership.“This is saying that you need leadership for this job, but then again you don’t need to be a leader all the time. It is okay to be a follower in some cases but sometimes you may need to be the leader and you don’t need to be afraid to be the leader because you might be the only one that knows what you need to do in the situation .

So google does look at your credentials before hiring you, they also look at you personality to see if you will get along with everyone else in the company, as well as they look at your leadership abilities so if you are put in charge of a project having strong leadership abilities will ensure that no one will take over your project.leadership, humility, collaboration, adaptability and loving to learn and re-learn. This will be true no matter where you go to work. This is saying that if you have all of these you will be the perfect employee; you can be a leader when you need to be. You get along with others and you can adapt to a new environment when you need to. When you get something right and it was a team effort you won’t take all of the credit, you will include everyone so they can get the credit they earned. You are willing to learn and relearn if you need to, you won’t get mad over having to learn/relearn something you already know, you sit there and absorb the information to see if you can learn something new. So Google is hiring people with humility, leadership skills, collaboration, adaptability and loving to learn and re-learn.

Did you know that unlike working at Google, working at Lego is hard to go work for? Lego will send you an invite to come join them for the opportunity to come do some test trials which will tell the Lego employers wanting to hire you weather you are compatible with the company. Lego is looking for people that are creative, and can work great under pressure. Lego is looking for creative people that have the ability to create a cool new theme for Lego’s. The test trials include a test where they will test your creativity by letting you have complete freedom in creating a new theme for Legos and if they like your idea then you will move forward in the contest. The contestant that wins, their idea will be the new Lego toy. Now we will talk about how SAT scores don’t really have an impact on getting you a job.

Did you know that your SAT score does have a small impact on you getting a job? This quote will tell you a little about how your SAT scores may impact your chances of getting a job.“A low score doesn't necessarily kill a person's chances, hiring managers say; instead, they say they believe SATs and other college entrance exams like the ACT help when comparing candidates with differing backgrounds or figuring out whether someone has the raw brainpower required for the job.”This quote is saying that the future employers look at your SAT score, but that doesn’t mean they are not going to hire you if your score is low they are looking at your scores to see if you have “raw brainpower” to do the job. Reading this quote makes me think that you don’t need a diploma which is just a piece of paper to prove to your new potential employer that you are good enough all you really need is a great mind.

This next quote that I am about to share with you will tell us that if you are weak in one subject, you have other qualities that will show your potential employer that just because you have one weakness doesn’t mean that it will affect your ability to work there, it just goes to show that potential employer that you have other capabilities that will help out their business in the long run. “Americas recruiting. But candidates with weak math results would need to demonstrate other strengths, such as subject-matter expertise or leadership ability, she added.”The spokeswoman does have a point. Her point being the fact that just because you have a little trouble in a subject or with teamwork or something, but she does have another point saying that just because you have one weakness means that you have at least a dozen other strengths that outweigh that one weakness.

Sometimes employers like to look at your SAT scores or past test scores if you didn’t have any past job experience for them to look at as proven in this quote. "When you're hiring people and they don't have a lot of work experience, you have to start with some set of data points," he said, adding that he likes to hear about recent graduates' extracurricular activities, too.”This quote is saying that companies do hire people that don’t have a lot of work experience or any experience at all, but companies will hire you. They will hire you as long as they prove you are a good employee, based on your test scores or your extracurricular activities from high school. So what I am trying to say is all the stress you have over these tests they do matter more than you think. They are not only there for you to show colleges how smart you are and how well you test, but it shows your future employer how well of an employee you will be.
