West Coast Area (WCA) Presents: A Training Weekend forGuiders

When: February 3 to 5, 2012

Overview:Guider’s have the opportunity to take either the Residential CampingOutdoor Activity Leadership(OAL)streamor join the district camp planning workshop. Both trainings will be hosted from CampOlave. On either side of the training hours, Guiders will have time to enjoy the campsite, activities and time with fellow Guiding Members.

Residential Camping OAL stream: For Guiders who want to learn how to run a residential camp or to fine tune their residential camping skills. Workshop will cover the soft skills associated with planning and running camps your girls and co-Guiders will enjoy.We only have 20 spots available.

District camp planning: Each district is being encouraged to send at least one Guider to attend this workshop, so they can return home to share their experience. The workshop will deliver tips, ideas and directions to planning and coordinating a successful district camp. We only have 16 spots available. Note: We have allowed for one spot per district, if a district has more than one person interested in attending, we will hold these registrations on a first come basis, to fill any spots not taken by a district.

Where: CampOlave, Sunshine Coast, BC in Kwi Kwa and Ranger cabins (winterized cabins)

Registration deadline: January 15, 2012(late registrations will be wait listed)

Cost: $70 per person(covers accommodation, training, on-site meals, and activities)

Payment: Please make cheques payable to, Girl Guides of Canada, West Coast Area, and mail payment to Claire Belzer, at 4705 – 47 Avenue, Delta, BCV4K 1P5.

Payment deadline: January 26, 2012 (must be delivered to the WCA council meeting)

Support: You can request financial support from your district, who may offer to cover your travelling expenses or the camp fee. Note:The area training and camping committees have already contributed funds in an effort to keep the camp fee low.

Travel: Each participant is responsible for their own travel costs to and from CampOlave. You can either make your own travel arrangements or we can assist you with your plans by coordinating car pooling.

Health & dietary: We’ll work with you to make sure your needs are met. Please provide us with any pertinent details on the registration form. Please fill out an adult health form (H2) and carry it with you while at camp.

Friday dinner you can plan to eat on the ferry or stop in Gibsons, RobertsCreek or Sechelt for dinner. Check for the different locations and cuisines. Since you won’t have the responsibility of girls at this camp, take time to enjoy the SunshineCoast before arriving at camp.
