SP-XX TRAFFIC SIGNAL CABINET BASE

1.0  DESCRIPTION

The work covered by this special provision includes all elements of work required to furnish and install concrete traffic signal cabinet bases. Work includes but isn’t limited to providing all materials, placing the concrete bases, excavating, backfilling, compacting, and all incidentals necessary to complete the work such as forms, in accordance with the plans and , NCDOT Section 825, CDOT Drawing 1751.01-3-CDOT (Type M), CDOT Drawing 1751.01-4-CDOT (Type P), and CDOT Drawing 1751.01--CDOT as applicable.

When using poured concretefoundations, useprocedures, equipment and hardware as follows:

(A) Locate new cabinets so as not to obstruct sight distance of vehicles turning on red.

(B) Obtain approval for final cabinet foundation locations before pouring concrete base.

(C) Do not install foundations over un-compacted fill or muck.

(D) Hand tamp soil before placing concrete and ensure ground is level.

(E) Maintain 12" minimum from service pole to closest point on foundation unless otherwise approved.

(F) Use a minimum of four 3/8" diameter expanding type anchor bolts to secure cabinet to foundation.

(G) Install minimum 4" above and 4" below finished grade.

(H) Locate external stubbed out conduit at cabinet foundation so conduit is in middle of cabinet. Provide service conduit as the rightmost conduit coming into cabinet. Provide 2 spare conduits stubbed out; one pointed toward service pole and the other toward direction of lead in cable. Inscribe identification arrow in foundation indicating direction of spare conduits.

(I) Give cabinet foundation a broom finish.

(J) Seal space between cabinet base and foundation with permanent, flexible, waterproof sealing material.

2.0  MATERIALS

Traffic Signal Cabinet bases shall be a minimum of 3600 PSI concrete and conform to the plans, NCDOT Section 825, and CDOT Drawing 1751.01-3-CDOT (Type M), CDOT Drawing 1751.01-4-CDOT (Type P), and CDOT Drawing 1751.01--CDOT as applicable.

3.0  MEASUREMENT

The quantity of traffic signal cabinet bases will be the actual number installed and accepted on a per each basis.

4.0  PAYMENT

The quantity of Traffic Signal Cabinet Bases, measured as provided above, will be paid for at the contract unit price per each. Payment will be full compensation for all work covered by this special provision, including but not limited to providing all materials, placing the concrete bases, excavating, backfilling, compacting, and all incidentals necessary to complete the work such as forms, in accordance with the plans and NCDOT Section 825, CDOT Drawing 1751.01-3-CDOT (Type M), CDOT Drawing 1751.01-4-CDOT (Type P), and CDOT Drawing 1751.01--CDOT as applicable .
