BALDOCK

Working for

Baldock has been exchanging visits with our twin town partners for many years, Germanysince 1988, and France since 1997. This association is run and funded by your own community and we welcome all those who share our aims.

Language is never a barrier, and lasting friendships have been forged over the years. Indeed, these exchanges are a wonderful way of learning languages and discovering different cultures, especially for young people.

In 2012 we organised an Olympics event, when both twin towns were here and visited the Games with us. The whole experience was magical.

In 2018,when communities in W. Europe are facing major challenges, such work isever more important.

All this is funded by membership subscriptions and fund-raising events.

TOWN TWINNING

international understanding

Eisenberg

A small, post-industrial town in the Rhineland-Palatinate region of Germany, Eisenberg is located in a wooded area, close to the German Wine Route.

During our stays here we have visited many of the interesting towns nearby, taken a trip on the Rhine, visited the nearby shoe museum and the Benz museum in Ladenburg, tasted local wines and been given a tour of one of the top German football clubs (Kaiserslautern).

In 2018they joinus for our 30- year celebrations.

We will visit Windsor, sail the Thames and then on to Bekonscot model village.

ASSOCIATION

and cooperation

Sanvignes-les-Mines

Although not a major wine-growing town, Sanvignes is situated in the Burgundy region of France and is therefore close to some of the most prestigious vineyards in France. There is even a vineyard in the town itself, which belies the town’s name.

Once a coal-mining town, the mines have all closed. It is now surrounded by pasture land where the famous Charolais cattle can be seen grazing peacefully.

Many beautiful and interesting towns are to be found in the area. During our stays there we have, among others, visited Chalon-sur-Saone, Cluny, Digoin, Lyon Tournus.

In 2017they visitedusto celebrate 20 years of friendship, sharingour daily lives, culture and cuisine.
