John,
This looks like a valuable new course.
My only remark would be that when this course is listed under theentry for Religious Studies, the RELI number should be first. In that case the entry would read as follows:
RELI 3600/CLAS 3600. Greek and Roman Religions (3) (FC:HU)
It will be Religion majors that are reading that page, and they shouldsign up for it under the RELI number. This way, when they present their transcript to Duke Divinity or someplace like that, it will look like a more convincing Religious Studies major.
I know this does not conform to how other cross-listed entries appear, but we are planning to have those changed.
Sincere thanks,
Derek

John, This all looks fine to me, except that I wonder if you also need marked catalogue copy for p. 476 where the course should be listed in the course section of the catalogue. In any case, I'm copying this to the co-director Derek Maher. He has the most recent experience in doing this for the curriculum process. So if he does not spot anything, other than the one note I made, then I think we're fine with it. Thanks

Calvin,
Take a look at these and see if all looks correct. (In addition to the CLAS 3600, I will be seeking WI credit for honors sections of CLAS 2000 and not this change also in your minor).

Linda Wolfe handled all that with the new ANTH courses. But I think it safe to say that from the side of religion, your new course will go in two places (I'm looking at a hard copy of the 06-07 catalogue):
--On p. 109 under "Core Religion Electives" it should be listed as CLAS 3600/RELI 3600 and listed alphabetically, which would put it right after CLAS 2000.
--On p. 476, under the RELI courses, it should be listed in numerical order and would be listed as RELI 3600 (list all of the appropriate abbreviations of course, along with your course description) Then you'd want to say
"Same as CLAS 3600" You can see how they do with by looking at RELI 3000 Motherhood of God in Asian Traditions which is cross listed.

Calvin, since I may not (and the online catalog may not) have the most up-to-date version of the RELI minor (given your recent additions of the ANTH courses), could you send me an updated catalog copy of the minor and show where CLAS 3600 and RELI 3600 should go?
I am going to be represented at the 15th meeting by Frank Romer and John Given. If you trust us to process the change (hence my request that you do the catalog copy) we can. I'll cc: you on the official paperwork and you can look it over and correct me. I have to have it in by Monday, and hope to do it sooner, if you are able to get the updated RELI catalog copy to me. Sorry for the rush. This stuff always gets so complicated. Of course if you prefer to come too and make sure it is done right, you are most welcome.

Dear Dr. Stevens,
The Religious Studies Committee has voted to support this new course on the condition that the course is cross-listed with a RELI prefix as RELI 3600 (the same number that you use for Classics will be fine). We will also ask that it be listed as one of our core electives in our program in the catalogue. Let me know if you need anything else from me.
Thanks,
Calvin Mercer

Calvin,
Attached is a draft of a course on Greek and Roman Religion that Dr. Frank Romer is interested in offering. Will you discuss it with your faculty and notify me whether you have any objections, and if not, indicate whether you would also consider inclusion of the course in your minor and where?
