Key Updates and Activities
Progress continues to be made in all the programme work streams thanks to colleagues from a wide variety of organisations throughout Wales. As well as the field testing which is currently underway, Add To Your Lifehas been presented and demonstrated at a number of conferences and other events including the Welsh Public Health Conference and the Healthy Working Wales event during October. It has been demonstrated to the CMO and Minister for Health and will be demonstrated to the Chief Executive of NHS Wales, on 15th November. During the coming fortnight,Add To Your Life will be presented and demonstrated at the Public Health Wales Staff Conference and the Communities First Annual Conference.
Field Testing, Community Access and IT
During the week commencing 28th October, an independent external consultancy carried out accessibility testing to ensure Add To Your Life meets the criteria for Surf Right Accreditation and conforms with appropriate Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.0 AA). During November, another independent consultancy will carry out external penetration (security) testing of Add To Your Life.
Field testing of the prototype version of Add To Your Life is currently underway as planned, with users accessing the site individually or with support available through e.g. Communities First in the 10 identified clusters and some local libraries. Access to telephone support to complete the questionnaire is now available, provided by NHS Direct Wales. The “contact us” facility included in Add To Your Life is being used to good effect by those accessing the site. This is an important element of the period of field testing as feedback from stakeholders is essential in order to help inform potential future developments. The Content Assurance Group will be key to this aspect of the programme with their role including prioritising and facilitating future developments.
NatCen Social Research have been contracted to carry out the formative evaluation. Initial discussions between WG colleagues and NatCen have taken place to confirm plans and timescales. The outcomes of their work will be central to informing the future development of Add To Your Life.
Communications and Marketing
Arrangements for generating letters of invitation to those approaching age 50 after April 2014 and the design of public facing marketing material including Facebook advertising, leaflets and posters is currently being finalised. Marketing material will be distributed to all Communities First, local government, Local Health Board, local Public Health team, 3rd sector and other stakeholders in the period leading up to implementation of AddTo Your Life throughout Wales from April 2014.
If you have any queries, or if you are part of a local Public Health team or working with Community Health trainers, champions, libraries or other groups in your community and would like to hold a local workshop, meeting or other event, please contact to make arrangements.
