RESIDENTIAL SCHOOL MODULE INFORMATION SHEET (2013)

B899 Strategy

Aim
B899 is a version of B835 for F02 award, MBA students wishing to complete the compulsory Strategy element of the MBA programme following the withdrawal of B820. The residential school for B899 is exactly the same as that of B835 outlined below.

This residential school provides the opportunity for you to work with a group of other B835 students and tutors in a face-to-face environment, putting strategy into practice, including some finance aspects covered in B831.

There is a section on the B835 website called ‘Residential school guidance’ which you should access a few weeks before the start of the schools. This sets out essential preparation work that you need to undertake in advance and includes all activities and readings that you require prior to the school.

The school runs over five days (four nights). The work of the school is based on a case study and is structured around scenario planning, details of which are provided in the Residential school guidance area. Students work in groups to carrying out a number of activities throughout the school, culminating in a presentation by each group on the morning of Day Five. By the end of the school, each student should leave with a clearer idea of the practical aspects of implanting strategy and taking financial decisions.
