Post:Corporate & Community Fundraiser
Hours of work:Part-time, 2.5 days per week
(Flexible hours required due to nature of the role)
Reports to:Chief Executive
The post-holder will be required to meet with and provide regular reports to the Fundraising Sub-committee
Location:Bromley Mencap (Flexibility to work from home may be considered)
Travelling throughout the borough will be required
Job Purpose:
To contribute to and implement a fundraising strategy in accordance with the aims of Bromley Mencap.
To obtain external funding support for a programme of current projects, new services and aspects of the organisation’s operational activities.
To be responsible for achieving annually an agreed money-raising target through a wide range of actively marketed and promoted activities, campaigns and events.
To work with the general public, local community and corporate and business organisations, to raise awareness of the charity's work, aims and goals and to increase constantly the amount and ways those individuals and groups can contribute.
Main Duties:
General
1. To contribute to and implement a strategy for community fundraising in close
working liaison with the Fundraising Sub-committee
2.Provide administrative support for all fundraising activities and respond to
internal and external enquiries relating to fundraising matters
3.Provide statistical information as and when required
4.Liaise with the Finance Officer and monitor income and expenditure against the
the target that has been determined
5.Acquire and maintain knowledge of the work of Bromley Mencap, appropriate funding sources and fundraising techniques
6.To plan and manage time cost effectively, focusing efforts on activities which maximise the potential for new and existing income
7.Work flexibly as required,andto attend meetings and give presentations. This
may include evening and weekends
8.To liaise with Royal Mencap’s fundraising department to co-ordinate and target activities appropriately
9.To maximise income through legacies
Community
10.Assist with the planning and development of fundraising events by cultivating
support from a wide range of community groups (e.g. Rotary, Round Table, Lions Clubs, Churches, Schools and Pubs)
11.Develop new and imaginative fundraising activities, many of which are events-
Based
12. Work with all forms of the media with a particular focus on social media to promote, market and advertise forthcoming events to include posters and fundraising literature
13. Raise awareness at local level of Bromley Mencap and our activities - this may involve giving talks to groups, radio interviews and writing press releases
14. To assist in the recruitment, development, motivation and supervision of a group of fundraising volunteers with a focus on our membership
15.Develop and maintain effective links with members and supporters
16.Oversee corporate fundraising, including employee giving, matched giving from employers, sponsorship, advertising, donations and gifts in kind.
17.Identify new fundraising opportunities through research and networking and organise and promote a programme of events which would attract the support of the corporate sector in particular local and smaller national companies
18.Organise the use of direct mailing to a wide range of potential and current
donors.
19. To participate in supervision, training and team meetings as required
20. To comply with all organisational policies and procedures, and in particular to ensure safe, fair and responsible working practices
21. To undertake other duties that may be required of the post.
