THE RACE FOR THE WHITE HOUSE PROJECT: THE PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION OF 2016
Objective: Students will evaluate the candidates running for President in the 2016 election. Students will also analyze the candidates and decide which candidate will best serve the interests of the United States.
Guidelines:
- Create a portfolio consisting of:
- a biography of each candidate (the format will be provided)
- explain the candidate’s opinion on three (3) issues
- give your opinion on each issue
- include at least five (5) news paper clippings about the election and/or the candidates
- critique the five (5) news paper articles (the format will be explained)
- type at least one (1) page explaining why people should vote
- type at least one (1) page explaining which candidate you would vote for and why
- explain the Electoral College process and why ______won (at LEAST two (2) typed paragraphs)
- complete the Electoral College map after the election on November 8, 2016
- Label all 50 states & DC
- Write the number of electoral votes that each state has on the chart
- Shade the states won by Donald Trump RED
- Shade the states won by Hillary Clinton BLUE
- Shade the states won by Gary Johnson in GREEN
- The portfolio should be presented neatly in a binder or scrapbook.
- You will receive two (2) test/projects: one (1) grade will be for completing letters a-e; and one (1) will be for completing letters f-i.
- You will be graded on neatness, accuracy, and the depth of knowledge in your typed papers.
