2009

Membership renewal will be annually for all members with the calendar year beginning in January.

Continue the “Bring a Member” campaign for the chapter, to be held in February.

Distribute membership applications in September with renewals to be completed by January 1.

Continue to recruit new members with a goal of sustaining chapter membership size. Distribute letter of invitation with membership information packet to potential members and post on virtual community.

Maintain chapter roster with availability through email, as well as online directory. Update membership roster quarterly.

CBRC Objectives

Develop products, opportunities and a knowledge base that promotes excellence in oncology nursing.

Increase resources to ensure the continued growth and strength of CBRC.

Contribute to national effort to relieve nursing shortage.

As of January 2009, new membership rates will be: $20/1yr, $35/2yr and associate membership $15/yr.

Free local membership to those who contribute an article to the VC website, OR who recruit 3 new members within a calendar year.

Nursing students may join CBRC with waived chapter dues and CBRC will pay ½ of their national dues.

Program Development

Develop needs assessment to identify member’s educational needs and to guide future program development.

Continue to develop and provide continuing education opportunities for nurses in collaboration with appropriate organizations, including chapter meetings, with CEUs as often as feasible within ACCME guidelines. Encourage programs that promote utilization of nursing research and evidence-based practice.

Community Outreach

Collaborate with community at large to provide public education and promote CBRC visibility at community-based events ( ie Susan G. Komen Foundation BMW Drive, Lung Cancer Awareness activity at local mall, Ladies Night Out Breast Cancer screening).

Maintain and expand CBRC’s Virtual Community webpage.

Send announcement of monthly meetings to area schools of nursing.

Collaborate with schools of nursing to stimulate interest in oncology nursing via classroom lectures and clinical preceptorships/mentoring.

Continue to evaluate cultural needs within the community and better define methods to meet these needs.

Enforce and follow disclosure policy for sponsored speakers.

Provide two educational grants ($250 each) for active chapter members. Names to be drawn from pool of qualified members in December. One grant to be awarded is Jeanne Cowan Memorial Scholarship.

Additional grants may be awarded based upon individual member’s application to the board.

Provide registration for Leadership/Mentorship Weekend for one board member.

Nomination committee will develop and implement formalized distribution of scholarships and provide support for applications.

Promote visibility of active members through the VC website.

Present recognition plaque and one year local membership to Chapter Member of the Year.

Publish announcements, articles on the VC website and update regularly.
