The Class of 1948
James H. McK. Quinn Faculty Fund
Description and purpose On the occasion of their 50thReunion, the Class of 1948 created the James H. McK.Quinn Faculty Fund to enhance teaching excellence at The Episcopal Academy. In order to attract and retain the best faculty, Episcopal provides 50% tuition reimbursement to faculty working toward an advanced degree. The James H. McK. Quinn Faculty Fund is a permanent capital fund designed to produce revenue to supplement this benefit. A projected five percent of the capital fund is available each year for direct grants to teachers pursuing studies within their disciplines.
Episcopal believes that teachers who grow intellectually serve our students most effectively. Sixty-five percent of the school’s faculty hold advanced degrees, and the Quinn Faculty Fund encourages others—especially young teachers—to pursue advanced study. Since it began awarding grants, the Quinn Fund has reimbursed a substantial portion of the cost of advanced degree work for every applicant.
Application process All faculty are welcome to apply by submitting a copy of applicable course registration and fees to the Academic Dean in the Fall, Winter and Spring.
Reporting to school and donors
With thirty days of completing subsidized course work, award recipients shall submit a brief report summarizing the course(s) and explaining how they plan to use the knowledge to enrich the classroom experience for students.
Please note: Recipients are required to remain on the Episcopal faculty for at least one year following the award or return the full stipend to the school.
*This award is in addition to the Tuition Reimbursement Scholarship program.
