

Qualifications

/ Associate's Degree required. Telecommunications or Networking Systems preferred. Relevant experience may substitute for Associate’s Degree year for year.
/ Two years relevant experience in a telecommunications related field required.
/ At least one year of experience with blueprints, building sites, demark locations and electrical for existing and new locations.
/ Hardware and Software platforms experience consistent with the District’s Information Systems Services Strategic Plan.
/ Valid Florida Driver License.

Insure that telecommunications services are installed and maintained district-wide.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Knowledge of voice and data network wiring designs, including intermediate and main distribution facility designs. Knowledge of ESSX and FX telephone lines, trunks, electronic key systems, manned and unmanned PBX equipment and voice mail systems, as well as software associated with these systems. Ability to interpret site plans and overall building, electrical and HVAC blueprints. Ability to work independently. Successful presentation and communications skills, both oral and written. Ability to maintain effective working relationship with other employees.
Performance Responsibilities: Essential Functions
/ Coordinate school district telephone line, and data circuit installations with local carriers, cellular telephone services and telecommunications equipment installations with contracted vendors.
/ Assist in the selection an design of the intermediate and main distribution facility locations for schools being renovated or newly constructed by reviewing overall building, electrical and HVAC blueprints.
/ Work in concert with Network Operations Manager to meet with architects, engineers and personnel in Facilities to insure MDF and IDF design requirements are met.
/ Assist in the preparation of bid specifications for unmanned PBX’s and voice wiring of new telecommunications systems for schools being retrofitted, renovated or newly constructed.
/ Survey district sites and use blueprints to determine telephone needs, data circuit locations and network design for new constructions, renovations, portables, demark locations and for preparing bid specifications.
/ Coordinate tasks necessary to meet telecommunications and data circuit requirements with telephone vendors, engineers, architects, district inspectors and principals, and monitor the projects to insure that the installations meet requirements and deadlines.
/ Assist district personnel with troubleshooting telephone equipment or line problems and arrange for support maintenance.
/ Provide outstanding customer service, and use positive interpersonal communication skills.
/ Make all decisions and perform all tasks in accordance with Brevard Public Schools’ Organizational Values.
/ Ensure compliance with Board rules and applicable federal laws and regulations.
