Classroom Expectations:

Respect Responsibility Pride

·  Respect Equipment – That includes keeping food, drinks and candy out of the computer area to avoid unfortunate and expensive spills. Report any damage, messes or equipment problems immediately.

·  Responsibility includes following Tartan’s expectations of attendance, network policies, and behaviors. A lab class demands excellent attendance and promptness. Books can’t be checked out and assignments must be done at school so scheduling prompt makeup of missing work is critical. All makeup work may be turned in for up to 5 days for full credit; after 5 days = zero.

·  Pride – in your work and your accomplishments in this class includes academic honesty, equipment maintenance, leaving your workstation in good order, and showing your best efforts.

Helpful Hints:

·  Submit assignments in the appropriate basket with your name and seat information in the header. Handwritten names don’t work in this class!

·  Save all assignments in a folder for Intro to WP 1 on your student server. Files must be saved for the term in that folder to be counted for credit.

·  Do your own work and don’t share it; zero credit and an office referral for both of you isn’t fun!

·  Recycle or toss out garbage/unused printouts and clean up your workstation each day. Pushing in your seat is a nice way of making the entire room look tidy for the next class.

·  Write down assignments from your absences and make up missing work promptly.

·  Keep on task; if you finish early check with your teacher to see what else you might work on or utilize one of our “approved” software choices for this class. If you’re falling behind, talk to Mrs. Raebel.

·  Keep asking until you understand. The only bad questions are the ones you don’t ask.

·  Keep the games for your home computer – class time should be used to build your speed and competency with software.

·  Bring your passes, a pencil or pen, folder and planner with you to class every day. We occasionally take notes or give handouts – you want to be ready!

·  RELAX! Don’t beat yourself up about errors or slow starting speeds; practice and attention to details will bring your scores right up!

·  Keep in your seat or next to your seat until the bell rings; otherwise it gets crowded in the aisles for students trying to get their printouts.
