Development, Education, And Administrative Assistant – Job Description
Sanctuary Forest seeks a highly organized, detail-oriented, and experienced individual to assist with and implement the tasks and activities of our Development, Education and Administrative programs. This position is based at our office in Whitethorn, about 30 minutes west of Garberville. Under the supervision of the Development, Education and Administrative Coordinator, this employee will assist with:
Development and Outreach Duties (approximately 35% of time):
· Provide leadership in planning and developing annual fundraising plan
· Work with fundraising committee and board on fundraising
· Develop and coordinate major donor program; oversee and develop other key fundraising efforts
· Manage donor database and donor acknowledgement systems
· Provide general outreach and communications
· Update and maintain Sanctuary Forest Website
Education and Outreach duties (approximately 30% of time):
Coordinate with the Education Committee and its activities:
· Summer hike program and docent training
· Scholarship program
· Stewardship education program
· Collaboration with partner organizations
· General outreach and education:
· E-newsletters, Facebook, press releases and PSA’s,
· Write articles for local papers and partner publications
· Tabling at community events, office volunteer projects
· Coordinate quarterly radio shows
Administrative duties (approximately 35% of time):
The Development, Education, and Administrative Assistant will be responsible for office management and supervision of the Office Assistant, including:
· Management of office infrastructure (phones, printer)
· Maintain and update files and forms (insurance, event permits, etc.)
· Greet visitors in a pleasant manner
· Board and staff support
Key qualifications and skills:
· High level of organization, attention to detail, and task management skills.
· Ability to listen carefully, take detailed notes, and summarize complex information.
· Strong writing, interpersonal communication and teamwork skills.
· Ability to work independently in a fast-paced non-profit office environment.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, and with donor/contact databases; GIS skills a plus.
· High degree of personal accountability.
· Genuine enthusiasm for Sanctuary Forest’s mission of land and water conservation.
This position is 32 hours per week. Pay rate based on skill level and experience. Sick leave, holiday pay and vacation provided .
