This table of contents is inserted through the “references” tab. It will automatically display the headings within your document as long as they are properly inserted as headings. Each subheading will be displayed beneath corresponding headings.

Change Log

The following table tracks sections that are changed by date so that when a new version of the document is delivered, it is known what sections may have new information in them.

Heading 1

When using headings or other styles please select them from the Quick Styles menu on the Home tab. It is best to type all of your information out without formatting and then add the formatting at the end using the Quick Styles menu: Home > Quick Styles.

To insert a hyperlink, highlight a web address (for accessibility when printing the document), right click and select “Hyperlink.” Hyperlinked text should be Scarlet and underlined like this: osu.edu.

Heading 2

Any Heading 2 must be nested within a Heading 1. Do not skip headings or use different headings for design purposes.

Heading 3

Any Heading 3 must be nested within a Heading 2.

Heading 4 with a Numbered List

1.  Any Heading 4 must be nested within a Heading 3.

2.  Use numbered lists for items that need to be in order, such as directions.

Heading 5 with a Bulleted List

u  Any Heading 5 must be nested within a Heading 4.

u  Use bulleted lists for items that don’t need to be in any particular order.

When inserting a table, go to the tables tab and select one of the first two table styles which are labeled “Table” which is the default style or “Table (simple).”

*This is fine print. Do not overuse or make any smaller than 9pt.
