What are Mobile Services?

Mobile services are mobile carriage, end-user devices and other services that support entities to achieve the aims of the Australian Public Service Mobile Roadmap (Roadmap).

Government Objectives

The Commonwealth’s objective is to establish a panel that is flexible, efficient, and responsive to changing technology and entity business requirements.

The overall strategic objectives of the coordinated procurement of Services are to:

·  reduce the cost of supply to entities;

·  continue to meet the business needs of entities;

·  contribute to a competitive and viable industry;

·  result in fair, equitable and transparent processes; and

·  optimise government savings through cost reductions, improved efficiencies and promotion of behavioural change.

Who can use the Panel?

All Commonwealth entities and State and Territory Government bodies (state bodies).

What services are mandatory to procure under the Panel?

Non-corporate Commonwealth entities must use the Panel to procure the following services:

·  mobile voice and data carriage; and

·  mobile handsets and broadband devices.

Other Commonwealth entities and state bodies may procure these services

Who manages the Panel?

The Department of Finance is responsible for managing the Panel on behalf of the Australian Government.

Optional services

The following optional services are available under the Panel:

·  international voice and data roaming;

·  satellite carriage that supplement mobile carriage;

·  satellite phone handsets;

·  mobile Voice over Internet Protocol (mVoIP);

·  mobile phone accessories; and

·  mobile related services:

­  enterprise mobility management solutions;

­  wireless access solutions;

­  mobile application development; and

­  bulk SMS and other services that support entities to achieve the aims of the Roadmap.
