* This chart correlates Rigby instructional materials with the kindergarten high frequency reading words listed in the curriculum framework. Teachers should be teaching many new words, including the high frequency words in Literacy by Design, but the highest priority should be given to students learning the kindergarten high frequency reading words in the curriculum framework.

Use this chart to select an additional word or two to teach and practice as these materials are introduced to and reread with students. (Bold words are in the curriculum framework and part of the Rigby instruction for that particular theme). A suggested routine for teaching high frequency words is provided.
