3SUMMARY OF RECOMMENDATIONS

It is recommended that the Executive Member for Education endorse the Instrument of Government for Archibald Primary School. Under the terms and conditions of the School Governance (Constitution) (England) Regulations 2003, all existing Governing Bodies have been given the opportunity to choose and adopt a new model for the size and membership of their Governing Body by 31 August 2006. The size of the Governing Body ranges from a minimum of 9 to a maximum of 20. Within this range each Governing Body can adopt the model of their choice provided that it complies with DfES guiding principles. The Governing Body of Archibald Primary School has agreed to reconstitute during the Spring Term 2005.

The draft Instrument of Government for this school is attached as an annexe to this report.

The size and composition of the Governing Body concerned has been checked by the Governor Support Officer and found to be in accordance with DfES guidance.

PURPOSE OF THE REPORT

1.To seek agreement to the Instrument of Government for a number of schools who propose to come under new constitution arrangements during the SpringTerm 2005, in accordance with the School Governance (Constitution) (England) Regulations 2003

2.Governor Support Services have ensured that support and advice to all Governing Bodies concerned has been in accordance with the relevant DfES Regulations.

5.Following a direction from CMT, all reports must now indicate whether they have been examined by the Overview and Scrutiny Board or a Scrutiny Panel. If the Panel has chosen to compile a separate report, reference must be made to this at this point of the report. RECOMMENDATIONS

6.It is recommended that the Executive Member for Education endorse the Instrument of Government for the Governing Bodies detailed in paragraph 6 to this report.
