Family Learning Volunteer Role Profile

We areseeking enthusiastic volunteerstosupport our family learning activities at London Transport Museum. We anticipate an exciting year as we launch our new family galleries, bring our replica uniforms / period costumes onto the gallery floors and push the boundaries of what can be achieved with the large number of families who attend our holiday activities.

With all this excitement we are looking for volunteers with commitment, enthusiasm and a passion for families and museums to ensure the smooth running of the activities and personal touch that our visitors deserve.

Do you enjoy engaging with children, offering encouragement and support, and working as a team to deliver a successful educational programme?

Who we are looking for

Some experience or a strong interest in dealing with families and children

An interest in learning through creative media such as craft, drama or singing

Ability to interact with people from different ages and backgrounds

A willingness to learn

An interest in museum learning

What you could be doing

Supporting the delivery of storytime, craft and other activities for families during school holidays and some weekends at the Museum and Museum Depot

Working with another volunteer to engage families with specific costumes and props on the Museum floor, during weekends and some school holidays

Opportunities to get involved with other specific learning projectsand Museum events

What Happens Next?

We ask that you can offer at least 8 daysduring weekends or holidays between February and May. We are happy to discuss this further during the group interview.

-Informal group interviews will be held on Monday 2 February at 10.30 and 17.00. They will last up to one hour and you’ll only need to attend one.

-You must be available for an induction session on Tuesday 10 February at 10.30 am OR Wednesday 11 February at 5.30pm

-You must be available for training on Tuesday 10 February at 1pm and/or Wednesday 11 February AND Tuesday 17 February from 5.30 – 7.30pm
