To the Maverick Spirit Award Selection Committee:

It is with great enthusiasm that I nominate [Name of Student] to be the recipient of the Maverick Spirit award for the 2016-2017 school year. In my nearly two years of working on campus, I can confidently say that not many students compare to the level of energy and enthusiasm she brings to this the MSU community (and beyond). Through her leadership on-campus, her community outreach efforts, and drive to make a difference in the world, she is an extremely deserving candidate for this award.

[Name of Student] is a driven leader and valuable asset to our campus community who steps-up and takes risks for the betterment of MSU and its students every day. I can attest that [Name of Student] goes beyond the call of duty as a Community Advisor, making meaningful connections with our residents and providing them with the tools they need to be successful students. Beyond the residence halls, Courtney is involved with Campus Kitchen, the Honors program, and is a founding member of the RSO SPARK (Strengthening Pride and Reinforcing Kindness). From coordinating and leading the fall Honors retreat to leading shifts of students in preparing meals for the community, she is a selfless leader who thrives off seeing others grow and succeed.

Not only has [Name of Student] had a positive impact on our Maverick community, she also regularly shares her talents and skills with the greater Mankato area and beyond. With double majors in Health Science and Physical Education, and double minors in Developmental Adaptive Physical Education and Food & Nutrition, [Name of Student] believes in using her talents and abilities to assist underrepresented populations. [Name of Student] has used her coursework and natural talents to improve the lives of adults and children living with disabilities through work as a direct support provider, empowering people through life-skills development. Additionally, she regularly volunteers with the Special Olympics and with Mount Kato’s Adaptive Ski program sharing her love of physical activity with individuals with disabilities.

[Name of Student] embodies all that a MNSU Maverick should be: a confident, down to earth, globally-minded leader who strives to make all those she interacts with both on and off campus feel valued, connected, and empowered. It is without hesitation that I strongly recommend [Name of Student] for this award and recognition for all she has done for our Maverick community.

Sincerely,

[Name of Nominator]
