Post title:Lecturer/Assessor welding & fabrication

Reports to:Curriculum Lead

Responsible for: Welding & fabrication curriculum across TCCG

Grade/salary scale: CC34 – CC39

Terms & Conditions Teaching Contract (with a commitment to teach upto 880 hours)

Primary Purpose:

  • To lead brilliant learning for the welding & fabrication across the TCCG ensuring the implementation of the Brilliant Learning Strategy.
  • To act as the champion and advocate for learners promoting active learner leadership and taking responsibility for learners in the welding & fabrication across the TCCG.
  • To advise and recommend curriculum offering within the area of welding & fabrication to include learner responsive, WBL and short & bespoke provision.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

  • Implementcurriculum operational plans with responsibility for active management of attendance, retention, achievement and success rates.
  • Day to day management of welding & fabrication across the TCCGincluding staff skills set, abilities and development, course offering content and delivery models, recruitment to target/budget.
  • Take responsibility for case conferencing to ensure learners achieve across the whole of their learner entitlement.
  • Deal swiftly and effectively with student concerns and complaints in accord with relevant procedures.
  • Be the curriculum expert forwelding & fabrication across the TCCGadvising the Curriculum Lead on current and future trends to ensure curriculum is up to date and meeting the needs of employers.
  • Advise on curriculum to ensure clear career orientated progression pathways that are easy to understand by learners with clear routes identified from younger, through further and onto higher learning.
  • Implement effective feedback mechanisms for learners and employers to ensure continuous improvement is based on stakeholder needs.
  • Actively promote and demonstrate creativity and innovation in the use of new technologies to achieve excellence in all aspects of curriculum development and delivery and assessment in line with the Brilliant Learning Strategy.
  • Ensure Group wide priorities are consistently and effectively implemented. Through effective management and leadership ensure consistency of good practice in your area, devising and implementing mechanisms to share great practice.
  • Support a strong collaborative culture which supports positive partnerships and networks to enhance our delivery capacity and quality with key employers, sector skills councils and specialist sector organisations in all markets relevant to the curriculum area including 14-19, adult, employer and higher education.

Education & Qualifications:

  • Hold appropriate curriculum qualifications.
  • Hold a teaching qualification e.g. PGCE or Certificate of Education.

Experience & Knowledge:

  • Proven experience of driving and delivering lasting improvements through innovation in teaching and learning.
  • Excellent knowledge of local partners and key stakeholders with knowledge of their priorities and needs that will enable productive and collaborative relationships.
  • Experience of internal and external quality assessment processes.
  • Knowledge and experience of funding streams in your curriculum area.
  • Knowledge of current issues and future trends within your area.
  • Knowledge of the Programme of Study and employability skills development within your curriculum area.
