Campus Life considers various societies available to students. Culture, the Student Representative Council and Sport at the NMMU will be discussed (NMMU, 2009).

2.1  Arts and Culture

The mission of the NMMU Arts and Culture is to focus on the holistic development of students by creating opportunities for their participation in the arts. It further exercises and develops the need for cultural and artistic expression (NMMU Culture, 2009).

2.2  Student Representative Council (SRC)

The aims and objectives of the SRC are:

·  To represent and act in the interest of all registered students;

·  To encourage unity and peace within the student body;

·  To uphold justice and order in the student body.
