EQ: / What are the reasons you are pursuing a career in the field of your choice and what are the resources you will need to succeed?
Lesson Goal: / Students will brainstorm reasons and resources needed for completion of the research component of the Senior Project.
Activator: / Review your answers from the Senior Project research proposal completed earlier this school year. Determine what resources you will need to begin your research process and that will help you know more about your career.
Performance Tasks: / 1. Direct instruction on the Job Shadowing process. Discuss with students possible mentors or resources they can use to start the job shadowing process.
2. Students will spend this week working on the Senior Project Research Paper.
3. Individually set up an InClass binder for the Senior Portfolio. The steps are outlined in the attachment. Students will need to set up six sections and begin moving previous assignments to this electronic binder on their iPads.
4. Individually complete the Research handout which asks questions about why the student is pursuing the career and what resources he or she will need to access to help in the process.
Summarizer: / Tell teacher if you have made contact with a potential mentor for the job shadowing experience or if you need help in finding someone.

Activator: / In teams, review the website link about credible websites. Complete a Think, Pair, Share chart in which you identify examples of reliable and unreliable sources.
Performance Tasks: / 1. Students will share their findings on reliable and unreliable sources.
2. Direct instruction over source sheets. Each student is responsible for locating four sources for the research paper. Students will know how to complete each source sheet and will copy notes at the bottom of each page.
3. Students will begin the research process. A graphic organizer will guide you on what components you will need to research about your career.

Activator: / In teams, attempt to create a MLA citation for the following source: www.Historyisfun.org using the directions at the top of the source sheet.
Performance Tasks: / 1. The team with the correct citation will be allowed to AirPlay theirs
2. Continue to work on research. Goal is to have four sources by Tuesday of next week.
Summarizer: / Individually complete a MLA citation for one source you will be using for the paper
