Policies For Use Of Riverside Community Church

The following policies for use of church facilities allows us to keep the building in good condition and to make it available to groups in the community. The continuing programs of the church, including Sunday worship services, church committees, choirs, groups and outreach activities have priority for church use. Use of the building is available to community groups for religious, educational, civic, cultural, recreational and social purposes. The following guidelines must be adhered to by groups and individuals using the church building. Failure to do so may jeopardize future use of the building.

  1. Only those rooms that have been reserved may be used and only participants in the event may be admitted.
  2. Groups wishing to serve food as part of the event may do so in certain church rooms, provided arrangements have been made at the time of application.
  3. Riverside's in-house caterers, Fresh Start Culinary Arts Program are the exclusive caterers for events at Riverside, but groups are welcome to bring prepared food for potlucks and snacks during events.
  4. Food and drink are not allowed in the sanctuary. You assume responsibility for enforcing this rule. You agree to make this policy clear to all guests attending an event and to ask guests to dispose of food or drink of any kind before entering the sanctuary.
  5. Alcoholic beverages may be served in the Pioneer Room, as long as it is served in accordance with all laws, especially laws regarding the age of those served, and laws prohibiting serving alcohol to intoxicated people. You must use licensed OLCC servers and provide proof of liability insurance. All items related to alcoholic beverage service must be removed, including all bottles and cans.
  6. Smoking is not permitted inside any part of the church facilities.
  7. Displays, signs and banners may not be placed or hung outside of the church building without permission from the church office. Decorations and displays must not damage church property and are to be removed at the conclusion of the event. Nothing may be taped to the walls. City fire regulations are to be observed.
  8. The alter and piano in the sanctuary may not be removed without prior permission from the church office. Any other object or furniture moved must be returned to the original location.
  9. Only music-related objects are allowed on the piano and organ. The piano may not be moved without permission from the church office. The organ may not be played without permission from the church office.
  10. Deposits will be returned if cancellation is made to the church office within at least one week prior to the event.
  11. When the application is approved and accepted, the organization and contact person named on the application agree to take full responsibility for the event or activities of the group, the conduct of the people in attendance, and any damage to the building, property or equipment arising out of the organizations use of the building.
  12. The organization and contact person agree to release and hold harmless Riverside Community Church, its employees, officers, agents and volunteers from any liability, claims, injury or other damage arising out of the organization's activities on the church premises.
  13. The organization and/or contact person agree to furnish the church with a certificate of liability insurance in the amount no less than $1,000,000 per occurrence naming Riverside Community Church, employees, officers, volunteers and agents as additional insured.
  14. The church, by approving use of its facilities, does not endorse or sponsor the event. If information about the location of the event is publicly announced, the group will clearly indicate that the church is not endorsing or sponsoring the event.
  15. Please show proper respect for this house of worship and the congregation for allowing use of the facilities.

Policies for Using the Kitchen at Riverside Community Church

Caterers and value-added food producers using the commercial kitchen at Riverside must abide by the following policies. Failure to do so will jeopardize your future use of the facility. Your rental fee covers the following items, and these items only: bleach for sanitizing, hand soap, dish soap, dish machine soap, paper towels for handwashing, ice for prep purposes, equipment, cookware, smallwares.

  1. You must bring all the materials you will need for your prep time in the kitchen, including, but not limited to: salt, pepper, plastic wrap, foil, sheet pan liners, oil, vinegar, sugar, flour, spices, and any containers you will use to store and transport food.
  2. You are welcome to use all equipment in the kitchen, but please be aware that you will be responsible for any damage you do to the equipment you use. Please make sure you know how to use all the equipment prior to your prep schedule.
  3. Use of the deep fryer is limited to those who pay an additional oil use fee, set on a case-by-case basis.
  4. You are responsible for bringing your own towels, aprons and knives.
  5. Upon arriving at the kitchen, please set up two sanitizer buckets and use them according to health code. Bleach will be provided.
  6. You are welcome to bring a radio and listen to music at a reasonable level that does not disturb people using rooms or offices in the church building.
  7. All food requiring refrigeration that you bring with you must be held in the walk-in on the shelves assigned to you. All refrigerated food must be removed at the end of your prep time unless prior arrangements are made.
  8. Ice is available for prep purposes only. Do not use ice to fill coolers.
  9. All dry goods that you bring with you should be held on the shelves assigned to you. All dry goods must be removed at the end of your prep time unless prior arrangements are made.
  10. We are a fully composting and recycling kitchen. All food scraps (including meats, fish and dairy) must go in the composting buckets during your prep time, and then be emptied into the composting container in the outside garbage area. All recyclable cans, bottles, cardboard, paper and other containers must be placed in the recycling containers in the outside garbage area. Only non-compostable and non-recyclable items may be placed in the kitchen garbage cans. Please tie off bags of garbage at the end of your prep period and place in the appropriate garbage container in the outside garbage area.
  11. After composting, recycling and taking out the garbage, rinse out the compost buckets and reline the kitchen garbage cans.
  12. Please leave enough time during your prep period to do the following cleaning before your prep period ends: sweep the kitchen and clean up any substantial spills to the floor and floor mats; sanitize all counter tops; wash and put away all pots, pans, smallwares and dishes used; clean and sanitize all equipment used including all equipment on the line, the robotcoupe, vitamix, stand mixer, etc.; empty and wash out sanitizer buckets.
  13. Take all your equipment, towels, and food with you when you depart, unless you have made prior arrangements.
  14. Turn off all gas to the line and turn off the walk-in light.
  15. Turn off the kitchen light, roll down the roll-up door if it is up and lock the kitchen door. If it is after 5:00 pm, make sure the back church door is locked as well.
