The Zachary Community School Board Meeting was held on February 23, 2012 at 6:00 p.m. at 3755 Church Street, Zachary, Louisiana.
The Invocation was led by Mr. Dykes.
The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Mr. Kelley.
ROLL CALL: Mrs. Rogers, Mrs. Young, Mrs. Samuel, Mr. Mackie, Mr. Owen, Mr. Kelley, Mr. Dykes and Mr. Dayton. 1 ABSENT (Mr. Swilley)
MINUTES FROM FEBRUARY 9, 2012
Mrs. Samuel moved to approve the minutes from the February 9, 2012 meeting. Mr. Dykes seconded the motion.

SUPERINTENDENT REPORT
Mr. Drake reported that State Superintendent John White visited the school board office this morning and Northwestern Middle School. Chas Roemer, BESE Member, Representatives Kenny Havard and Stephen Carter and Senator Bodi White were also in attendance. Jannie Rogers and David Dayton attended from the board. Zachary Elementary Second Grade students have published a book titled, “The ABC’s of Zachary.” The book signing will be Tuesday, March 6, 2012, at 9:30 a.m. The Zachary Community School Board District will celebrate Black History Month tonight at 7:00 p.m. at Northwestern Middle School. The Zachary Youth Park held its ribbon cutting today at 2:30 p.m. for the Softball Locker Room Facility. On February 28, 2012, at 11:00 a.m., Mr. Keith Wahoske, Vice President of Georgia Pacific, will be presenting each of our principals with a check for their schools.
RECOGNITION OF NATIONAL BOARD CERTIFICATION FOR 2011
The board recognized Bianca Deliberto, Lisa Smothers, Megan Southall, and Heather Williams for earning the National Board Certification for 2011. Bianca Deliberto was unable to attend. The board presented each one with a plaque. They will receive an increase of $6,500 per year for their accomplishment.
PERSONNEL MATTERS
Mr. Owen moved to approve Personnel Matters. Mr. Dayton seconded the motion.

NAMING THE FIRST AND SECOND GRADE SCHOOL
Mrs. Samuel moved to name the new First and Second Grade School, “Rollins Place Elementary School”. Mr. Kelley seconded the motion.
