COMMANDERS MESSAGE
Again this year we missed our 100% membership, mostly due to
members passing away but in part do to some not renewing in time.
National starts sending out notices in July (6 months ahead of time)
but is really due in January and this makes some members think it
runs form July to July but really it runs from January to January.
So next year don’t wait till April or May to pay your dues we need the
100% to make our post look good.
Everyone try to enlist new members. We do a lot of good for the
community every year. Come to a meeting at the Heritage House
(First Tuesday of the month) bring a friend and have them join us.
I want to welcome all our new members this past year. I hope they find our post enjoyable and tell others Veterans they need to join us.
PS. Don’t forget, whatever happens the “United States” isstill the best
country in the world.

WHAT’S HAPPENING
We submitted an application to have the post incorporated and were informed that we already wereincorporated. We also submitted a supplemental charted application. That was approved. Our new charter name is “Rodgers-Dougherty Post 102, Inc”. Notice the spelling for Dougherty. We discovered that we were spelling in wrong all this time.
In 2010 the Brookville Honor Guard did 17military funeral honors.
In May we went to the area cemeteries and put flags on all the veterans’ graves. We did a Memorial Day Program at the court house and then went to North ForkHeightsand dedicated a new flag. We had a cookout with the North Forkresidents then went to Laurelbrook. We did a Memorial Day Program and dedicated a new flag there. In June we managed a table for the Laurel Festival sidewalk sale and marched in their parade. We marched in the Corsica Fourth of July Parade. We were at the Jefferson County Fair all week selling raffle tickets. We had a family picnic with the VFW. In August we had a yard sale. In September we marched in the firemen’s anniversary parade. We were at the C.L.High Schoolfootball game and participated in the ceremonies honoring veterans. In October we removed the flags from the graves and had a flag retirement ceremony with the scouts. In November we did a Veterans Day Program at the senior citizens center and on Veterans Day did a program at the high school. After the program we visited with a 6th grade class to talk about our experiences in the service. We visited 61 veterans at the nursing homes around Christmas and presented each with a gift and thanked them for their service. At the end of the year we had $6300.50 in our checking account and $24000.00 in a CD.
As you can see we have a lot of fun. Why not come and join us!
