KIDS HOPEUSA

Building caring relationships… One CHILD. OneHOUR.

One CHURCH. OneSCHOOL.

What is KIDS HOPEUSA?

KIDS HOPE USA is a national church- owned, school based mentoring program that equips a church to build a partnership with a neighboring public elementary school by providing faithful mentors to build arelationship focused on a child’s emotional, social, and academic needs. The result: Changes in attitude, behavior, and academicperformance.

One child, one hour is the heart of KIDS HOPE USA. One caring adult mentoring a child for one hour every week can result in huge impact. Because when kids feel like they belong, they are better able to learn, grow, and succeed.

Why is KIDS HOPE USAneeded?

Children aren’t learning. There are growing numbers of students whose emotional and social needs eclipse their ability and motivation to learn. Having a consistent mentor come alongside them at a time in their young lives when values are formed, self-esteem is developed, and basic academic skills must be acquired can help children become better learners.

Public schools are overwhelmed. Over 50% oftherequestsforKIDSHOPEUSAprograms come from teachers andprincipals.

“KIDS HOPE USA brings some reality to the meaning for the word, “hope.” For that, I thank you, and all of the people that help out.”-Marla Ferguson, Teacher at Milwood Elementary in Kalamazoo,MI

WhatmakesKIDSHOPEUSAdistinctive?

Owned by onechurch-

KIDS HOPE USA gives churches a sustainable and replicable strategy to engage their own members in on-going one-to-one relationships with public schoolchildren.

Forms exclusive one-to-one relationships - KIDS HOPE USA mentors use a weekly one hour “event” to build a relationship focused on the child’s emotional, social, and academic needs. The result: Changes in attitude, behavior, and academicperformance.

Respects church-stateseparation-

KIDS HOPE USA mentors are trained to abide by the rules of the host organization. While there is no evangelism at the school, participation in church activities may occurwith parentalapproval.

“We had known each other for three years, done projects together, worked through other problems together, gone to the zoo together. Surely we could work through this together.” – Mentor from Third Baptist Church in St. Louis, MO
