Organized a comprehensive clinic for the evaluation of patients that have complex airway, swallowing, speaking, or breathing difficulties in conjunction with Drs. Sari Acra and Mohammed Fazili. This clinic has greatly improved the care of these patients and is becoming a regional referral center.

Velopharyngeal Insufficiency Team 2006 – Present

Organized and lead a comprehensive evaluation for patients that have velopharyngeal insufficiency. This team allows complete evaluation by all of the necessary practitioners (speech therapists and surgeons) and obtain videonasalendoscopy on the same day. Once a month all members of the team meet to review the results and progress of our patients. This clinic is serving as a regional referral center to treat patients with these disorders.

Vascular Malformations Team2009 – Present

Organized and lead a team of specialists who treat pediatric patients with vascular malformations to be discussed and seen by a group of appropriate practioners. This group of practitioners includes pediatric otolaryngologists, pediatric dermatologists, pediatric plastic surgery, pediatric surgery, radiology, pediatric cardiology, and pediatric hematology.

She was awarded first place in resident research competition in 2007, presented her research at the American Academy of Otolaryngology meeting in 2007, and received a resident research grant for 10,000 to continue her research from 7-2007 to 6-2008.

Maria Wittkopf - 6 months basic science research 7-2007 to 12-2007 Currently pursuing fellowship in pediatric otolaryngology and presented her research at the American Academy of Otolaryngology meeting in 2008.

She is a first year medical student who is working in my lab for her emphasis project which is focusing on the MALDI imaging to compare human cleft lip and palate tissue to identify common signaling pathways between cohort of patients with and without cardiac malformations.

Lucy Kennedy—2 year basic science and clinical mentor 12-2011 to present

She is a first medical student who is working in my lab for he emphasis project which is focusing on the role of VEGF during palate development. She will be characterizing the phenotype of mice who lack VEGF in the palate.

Phase 2 Trial of Celebrex use in patients with RRP2010-present

Principal investigator on Phase 2 randomized double-blinded cross over trial of the use of celebrex in patients with RRP.
